Suggestion

Drawn over here because of the in group controversy and like everyone else can't stop watching a very slow moving collision on a discussion forum going about 2 miles per hour.

And clearly Javaman is the most interested party in the group on the subject and should be given lattitude in posting.

However the host's point that just posting a link isn't really educating people in your point of view is also valid.

My suggestion is that somebody write a neutral article on what 'peak oil' is and what are the facts that are generally agreed on and the points of contention and pin that at the top. This would give us something to read as we wait for the slow moving collision to play out.

That way people who aren't really familiar with the topic can try and understand what is being discussed in the links.

If you are posting OPs that are just links wouldn't it be more advantageous for your point of view to excerpt out the part of the article that you thought made it worth citing?

I assume that those that are really interested in the subject already know the sites that are being linked to so more context would help draw in people who are not following this on a day by day basis.

While my posts are basically just links, that's because they go to a site which is a clearing house of various news posts for that particular day, so it's really hard to post a few paragraphs of the link, since the link is a compromised of several links.

But your suggestion regarding a "primer" if you will, of what is peak oil, is an excellent suggestion.

Thanks
Javaman
