Insulate, modernize and reduce power use, it’s still a challenge thou. Since it is such a large house we use electric fire places and small space heaters to help make the spaces we are in more comfortable while keeping the thermostat as low as we can…62 is about it.

There are tax rebates, up to 14k to be had next year for upgrades to help reduce energy use thx to the bill President Biden and the Dems passed. A heat pump is a possibility for us.

Long overdue for all rich countries!
We also need to overhaul our economic policies to push for efficiency with more equitable distribution for all.

yes we need better national policy But i also remember when Jimmy Carter was laughed at when he wore a sweater in the white house.
I know this may sound preachy but energy conservation begins in your own house.
