Going Solar!

We just signed up to have solar installed on our roof.

Our HOA only allows panels on the back side of the house which will amount to 50% of our usage but it is start.

1. Way to go! I'm not that ambitious... yet. But...

I'm seriously thinking about setting up enough solar to charge my cell phone. That's a small start anyway.
Maybe next year I'll try charging my electric bicycle with solar. Small steps.

2. i remember the oil embargo days when diy home plastic on windows stuff was all the rage

i worked for a cap agency with a home weatherization dept that put up sort of removable rigid plastic storm windows on the inside i think... of the house that was supposed to do great things

folks still do that sort of stuff or do we just use our furnaces to heat the great outside now?....(i live north so keeping warm more of an issue than keeping cool)

i do keep plastic over the sliding glass door that has not been opened in over 25 years.....

nobody seems to talk about this stuff anymore
