Forget the energy transition: there never was one and there never will be one

I'm about to launch readings in" Apocalypse, A History of Technological Risk." As a preliminary, I looked into the author, French Technological Historian Jean-Baptiste Fressoz. (It was written before the age of the orange slime mold in the White House, 2012).

As background, I looked into the author, and found the title for a link about him that is also the title of this post.

I of course, mock the idea of there ever having been an "energy transition" despite much public propaganda that one exists.

I cannot expect to agree with everything Dr, Fressoz says, but I must agree that there is no energy transition. The points in the interview about the relationship between oil and coal and insightful in my view.

One thing is clear; we are entering a hell of our making, and gullibility and the marketing appealing to it, have a lot to do with this outcome.

2. There is reality and there is chanting.

I could easily post links claiming that Jesus will save the world. Nothing has served the fossil fuel industry quite so well as the claim that so called "renewable energy" is sustainable and clean.

To my mind, "renewable energy will save us" is precisely equivalent to "Jesus will save us."

The outcome of this cult thinking, among other things, has been the revival of the coal industry in Germany, following decades of funding Putin to keep German gas plants running.

The planet's burning, and bullshit links to delusional chants by advocates of this disaster will do nothing to put it out.

Now, the work cited in the OP is about the real issue is material and land, the demands of which obviate why so called "renewable energy" is nothing more than a disastrous reactionary fantasy. The cited work points out that these same issues were understood in the 18th century.

We are burning more coal than ever before. Numbers don't lie, but people lie, to themselves and each other.

And as you should know, we are burning more coal, AND producing more Green Energy, because our energy usage has skyrocketed.

4. One of the uninteresting things about people writhing in dogma...

...is their confusion as to what a fact might be.

There are many sources of facts about coal consumption readily available, for instance, from the International Energy Agency. I refer to these numbers frequently in my writings here.

There are also many references to the scale of the expensive and useless so called "renewable energy" scam both in money squandered, which also amounts to trillions of dollars and in units of energy. The unit of energy is the Joule. On a macroscopic scale the SI prefix is used, i.e. the Exajoule.

Anyone interested in "facts" can look these numbers up readily.

It is also easy to look up how fast the concentration of the dangerous fossil fuel waste carbon dioxide is rising. I've posted the data here from the well documented, scientifically rigorous analytical chemists who work at the Mauna Loa CO₂ Observatory, many times, multiple times in the last few months as the disaster accelerates. The Observatory is of course threatened, but the data collected up to now is unambiguous.

Of course one does not need to be a rocket scientist like say one time Nazi Werner von Braun to understand what so called "renewable energy" advocacy is all about. It takes a minimal level of intelligence, some honesty (generally lacking in cultists), and readily available information a 5th grader could find in seconds of googling, to answer the following question:

Did Germany phase out climate change gas free energy, nuclear energy, or coal when it embraced solar and wind crap?

One would need to be intellectually weak or totally dishonest to claim they phased out coal. They embraced coal. The German carbon intensity for electricity is a disgrace. All future generations will pay for this decision to kill people.

I am very amused when cultists want to lecture me on what a "fact" might be, particularly when they offer "crocodile tears" bullshit about coal, about which they obviously couldn't care less. I'm unimpressed.

So called "renewable energy" was not originally embraced because of concern about climate or fossil fuels. That's a dishonest add on. It was embraced to attack nuclear energy, thus killing people and ultimately the planet in service to fear and ignorance.
