I'm sort of famous, not really. My blog post was re-blogged.

http://www.eclectablog.com/2013/06/guest-post-i-think-i-can-finally-write-about-it-they-closed-my-school.html

I wrote about the high school I taught in being closed by our district. It was all about money, not what was best for kids, and these are dark days in Michigan education. I'm in the midst of a job search right now and waiting to hear back from a district today. Even with all that going on, I still think about my Albion kids and what they're dealing with this summer.

The governor has said that Albion should be a model for the rest of the state's small districts facing budget issues. Seriously.

I used to live in Albion. I always thought the college (that doesn't pay property taxes, but uses a lot of resources) has had a hand in Albion's financial troubles. I am curious as to whether others feel that way. It is going to be an "interesting" lesson in diversity for the folks over in Marshall. I hope it is a positive experience for everyone involved.

Eclectablog is a great site. I discovered it my self during the last election cycle.

Best wishes with your career, I hope you are back in a classroom this fall. We can never have too many teachers who care about their kids.
