Is there something going on that I should know about?

As you may (or may not) know, I am a substitute teacher temporarily. I teach in public schools from preschool to 8th grade. Even special needs.

Today was the second time I have been accused by a tenured teacher of being asleep when I wasn't. First, I just don't. I don't black-out (narcolepsy). Second, it was during gym with a bunch of screaming kindergarteners. YOU try to fall asleep under those conditions. Third, since when do teachers go directly to principals instead of talking to you as another teacher? Fourth, I don't appreciate being treated like one of the kids, inside the principal's office with the door closed, being accused without the accuser. And try to prove that you WEREN'T sleeping. (Proving a negative premise is hard.) Fifth, I was up and moving around with the one kid I had to supervise with no sitting down.

In my favor, I didn't overreact, didn't talk too much. When I did speak, it was with conviction that gym teacher was wrong.

The only thing I can come up with is my appearance is no longer youthful. And I'm a bit overweight. That makes my eyes a bit puffed and kind of like wide slits, not the round, awake-looking appearance I once enjoyed.

Is there something going on, if someone on staff doesn't like you, they accuse you of sleeping on the job in the school?

I know I wasn't sleeping nor am I lying nor am I in denial.
