Reading buddies are such a hit at Lowell School.

This year's Kindergartners are working with students in our Explorers Class. The three-year-olds are captivated by the "big kids" and are eager to enjoy the stories. And our readers are working on their decoding, expression, and fluency. A win-win!

the entire 15+ years I worked there. The kids liked it since they didn't have to feel pressure from an adult. Does your school have a focus for each peer lesson and do they keep journals together? My school was called Lowell Mason.

They've moved on, to motherhood themselves.

They BEGAN learning to read via journals!

down side of schools being so rigidly segregated by age. The little kids benefit from the bigger kids and vice versa.
