POSITION SUMMARY:

The Kaiser Family Foundation, a leader in health policy analysis, health journalism and communication, is dedicated to filling the need for trusted, independent information on the major health issues facing our nation and its people. Kaiser is a non-profit, private operating foundation focusing on the major health care issues facing the U.S., as well as the U.S. role in global health policy.

The Senior Technology Officer will have primary responsibility in the DC office for desktop, server, and phone system support, end user support and training, application support, and support for general office equipment and video conferencing equipment. Additional areas of responsibility will include coordinating support for broadcast equipment, conference center equipment, and lobby equipment in the Foundation’s Washington DC office and conference center.

The Senior Technology Officer will provide feedback and assessments of the systems and applications available to the Foundation and will be proactive in making recommendations for modifications and improvements that will benefit both the end user community and external audiences who use our building. The Senior Technology Officer will help promote knowledge transfer to the other members of the Technology Working Group and will encourage knowledge transfer from areas in which they do not specialize.

Candidates should demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively, as this position will require close coordination with the Technology Working Group in the Foundation’s Menlo Park Headquarters. The Senior Technology Officer will supervise a team of two Technology Officers in Washington, DC, and will report to the Foundation’s Executive Director of Health Policy Media and Technology.


SPECIFIC TYPES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Candidate should possess an understanding and deep interest in technology
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to bring a strong customer service philosophy to the job
Minimum of five years of experience in both desktop support and network administration
Demonstrated project management experience
Ability to multi-task and self-organize
Must have significant experience configuring, troubleshooting and supporting:
Windows XP/7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Office 2007/2010, VPNs
Cisco networking and VOIP systems and Exchange environments
Education: Undergraduate degree in computer related field a plus
