(Reuters) - United Airlines has been sued by two longtime flight attendants who say they were excluded from highly coveted assignments to work on charter flights for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team because of their racial background and age.

In a complaint filed on Wednesday with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Dawn Todd and Darby Quezada said they were passed over in favor of flight attendants who were "white, young, thin women who are predominately blond and blue-eyed," and fit a "certain look" that the Dodgers players liked.

Todd, 50, is Black, and Quezada, 44, is of Mexican, Black and Jewish descent. Both said they have worked for United for more than 15 years, and are seeking unspecified damages for alleged discrimination and harassment.

In a statement, United said: "United fosters an environment of inclusion and does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We believe this lawsuit is without merit and intend to defend ourselves vigorously."

The Los Angeles Times reported the lawsuit earlier on Friday. ...

but where in this story does it say that the Dodgers asked United to assign certain types of flight attendants.
As I see it, only United is being sued, this all on United, where the Dodgers got caught in the crossfire.

Until evidence is produced, I'll hold back any condemation of the Dodgers.

I can't believe I'm defending los El Eh Doijers.

If the dodgers are making such requests, it’s indefensible.
If United acquiesced they should be sued and fined.
Let’s hope the truth comes out.
That said, siempre sere’ fan de Los Dodgers.
I will always be a Dodgers fan.

From what I understand, that is the norm.
Therefore, the group of applicants would be the United Airlines charter qualified flight attendant group.
The discrimination would then be related to the persons involved with the actual hiring process, and most likely would not necessarily be the airline itself, but the LA Dodgers hiring managers.

United could have advised the Dodgers staff however, that discrimination during the hiring process would be monitored, and that diversity in the selection should be a factor.
