AFGE ended the month of March with a net gain of 1,446, the highest net gain since June 2016.
AFGEs membership in March stood at 284,495, the highest total since September 2021. In just the past month, AFGE added 5,652 new members far surpassing our goal of recruiting at least 3,500 members a month. Factoring in members who retired, changed jobs, or otherwise left the union in March, we ended the month with a net gain of 1,446.
I am so proud of our local leadership and amazing AFGE staff who are driving this growth and doing amazing work connecting with employees and making the case of why they need to join the union, AFGE National President Everett Kelley said. The more our membership grows, the more powerful our federation becomes in fighting for better working conditions at the job site improvements that benefit each and every American who depends on the services that federal and DC government employees deliver.
AFGE's goal is to get our union back to 290,000 by the end of the year.
AFGE has provided locals with various resources to assist in their organizing efforts, including a new employee orientation video, a video discussion with national and local leaders on the importance of new employee orientations, and materials for holding virtual or in-person organizing events.

I had to go look.
AFGE proudly represents 750,000 federal and D.C. government workers across the United States and the world. Members of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) can be found in almost every federal agency and every function of government. We work for America.
