New month triggers reduced offer from ExxonMobil

The United Steelworkers Union in Beaumont and ExxonMobil continue to meet, even as key deadlines and an important vote inch closer in the now six-month-long lockout of workers.

Monday officially was the half-year mark since the company walked around 620 represented workers off of its complex to prevent interruptions from a possible strike. It also was a key date for the company’s proposed contract.

When the company presented an offer at the end of September, ExxonMobil’s bargaining representatives said that it would remove raises for 2021, a $500 bonus and the right for employees to grieve or arbitrate resignations if there wasn’t a contract by Nov. 1.

Representatives with ExxonMobil confirmed to the Enterprise that both parties met Monday afternoon, but there technically wasn’t anything new to present, since it is still leaving its amended offer on the table.
