$700,000 Homes in Texas, California (Far far from population centers) and Massachusetts

weird that they use Pioneertown as comparison to Dallas and Somerville Mass. A better comparison would be Dallas, Los Angeles and Boston. Or make them all rural parts of each state.

$700,000 Homes in Texas, California and Massachusetts
A Craftsman-style house in Dallas, a desert retreat in Pioneertown and a two-bedroom condominium in Somerville.

Dallas | $699,900
A Craftsman-style house built in 1930, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, on a 0.2-acre lot

Pioneertown, Calif. | $699,000
A desert retreat built in 2001, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, on a 1.30-acre lot

Somerville, Mass. | $649,000
A two-bedroom, one-bathroom condominium in a circa-1900 house

Bear in mind it's only this cheap because it's not in a nice part of town.

But hey, at least it's not in the old Kowloon Walled City

Somerville is cheaper than Cambridge but it has become quite "hip." I'd rather live there than either of the other two choices.
