Quote for the Day:
It all started with what Darwin viewed as the mystery of the universality of male excellence. Why should males be stronger and have larger antlers, horns, canine teeth, and on top of all that be the ones to sing beautiful courtship songs, to grow spectacular tail feathers, and to engage in strange behavior such as the mating displays of woodcocks and the intricate nest building of the bower and weaver birds? In some cases, such as the peacock, one might even expect natural selection to have eliminated the trait in question. Cannot a fox more easily spot and catch a peacock, brilliant as he is and weighed down by such a unmanageable tail, than he can a well-camouflaged peahen? How indeed did the peacock get to keep his feathers?

(46,984 posts)but it is what it is. Speculative plays are in the dump. TLRY. Ugh. Intel still fading. Most stocks have been range bound since Oct if not earlier. I'm thinking of UBER, BABA, NKE, ABT, DIS. And as the big ones go so goes the market. If big tech ever gets hit - GOOGL MSFT META, TSLA then the NASDAQ will really tumble, and most broad based mutual/ETFs hold big blocks of those and index funds even worse. Concentration in a diversified portfolio. Dangerous, or at least not without risk.
