Quote for the Day:

As the Reagan years ended, the uncertain future hung like a temperature inversion over America's substantial prosperity. The economy was enjoying the century's longest peacetime recovery cycle. But economic power and riches were realigning around the world, and the two most striking economic groups of 1989 represented a stark contradiction: billionaires – and the homeless. Prophecies for the future were just as mixed.

. . . that has been reported elsewhere on DU. I hope the Friday SMW thread came through all right for the rest of you. Here's hoping whatever it is gets fixed over the long week-end!

Today, I was looking for my book by Charles Pierce, Idiot America. While I didn't find it (I'm not very organized), I did find my copy of Kevin Phillips Bad Money, the updated 2009 revision!

The quote today is even more stark: The rich are even richer, the poor and homeless are worse off.

The display has been funky off and on all week. I didn't know if it was me or what.

I've had it happen in the past, but usually a log out and log back in takes care of it. Not today. It lasted about two hours, then fixed itself.

I think a lot of us remain nervous after 2016 . . . . . We may never recover.
