The U.S. has plenty of Covid-19 vaccines but retail pharmacies are struggling to quickly administer them in some places.

Vaccine seekers in some states face waits of days or weeks for doses as local health officials hustle to improve access to meet surging demand. CVS Health Corp. , Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. and Walmart Inc., which are facing staffing shortages, now say they may not be able to accommodate people without appointments.

They seemed surprised that I’d actually booked an appointment. Seems people were overwhelming them with walk-ins (“welcome”, per the sign). I figure it’s the least I can do.

So I "walked in" and was rudely told to make an appointment. When I checked their website there was a three week wait. I then called a locally owned pharamacy and got an appointment next day, and they were super nice, no online booking necessary.

Might be now since they opened it up to everyone. I wanted Moderna (after J & J - my family doc said I made the right choice) and had to go to the CVS about 10 miles away as the local one only had Pfizer.

My appointment at CVS ... no line, no waiting, walk up to the counter, give him info, done in 5 minutes. I am in NC though, only just above 50% fully vaccinated, 70% at least one dose....

No appointments needed, just walk in. There was a short line, 3 people in front of me, but I was out within an hour, including the 15 minute wait. I won't buy anything there, but it is good for the shots.

Appointment with cvs in Pittsburgh. No appointments at all and I went out 2 weeks. So I went to see what is available here in Chicago and the same thing. I could not get her one until Mid December. Walgreens and Jewel also.
