Yes, you read that right. The dating site, which targets married people looking to cheat on their spouses, surveyed 102,137 of its philandering female members about whether or not they had ever become pregnant with another man's child and passed the baby off as their husband's.
Nine percent admitted that they had done so, and that their husbands are not aware of it. An additional 16 percent admitted that they're not positive about who fathered one or more of their kids. And among the women in those two groups, 72.4 percent revealed that it's their youngest child whose father is in question.
And that's not all -- the press release also points out that the day after Father's Day is one of the busiest days of the year for the site -- possibly because of these paternity issues.

(2,571 posts)hide their status and try and convince me that a condom wasn't required. presumably, they wanted higher quality DNA than the dutiful man at home could provide. it should be a lesson to men that your pleasant personality, ability to provide, and how super sweet you are means nothing to a woman under certain circumstances.

I maintain that 95% of women under 35 will cheat with the right guy.
its completely disgusting behavior.

(36,899 posts)I have a military buddy that had a wife who convinced him to go back into the Air Force. He got stationed in Georgia and she told him to go ahead and move their first and get their apartment set up. While he was doing that, she talked his dad into cosigning for a car loan, then she promptly filed for divorce from him and stopped paying on the car. She knew he was stuck in the military and the support payments would come out of his check. He got stuck with the car payments so it wouldn't wreck his dad's credit. He later found out the child he supported for years wasn't his.
Some people are just manipulative and go through life shitting on everyone around them. It's as if they aren't happy and they want everyone else to be the same way. I don't think secrets bother people like that. You have to have a conscience before stuff like that affects you.

(80,708 posts)I didn't watch the video, but one, the guy's obviously a shitheel, and yet two, I'm not real comfortable with the propriety of outing shitheels on the internet like that, no matter how shit-heel-y they may be.
But I read that thread and couldn't help wondering how many of the "CRUCIFY HIM, HE DESERVES TO BE PUBLICLY HUMILIATED, THE FUCKING ASSHOLE" people would feel the same if the genders in question were reversed. I'm willing to bet it would be a very different story from certain parts of the DU peanut gallery.

(10,129 posts)It got me thinking ... the argument seems to be "well he was blathering on, in public, so he gets what he gets" but, at what point does posting a picture or video on the internet cross over into "publishing", where release forms are required, regardless of almost any extenuating circumstances?

(21,805 posts)I met him when he was 3.5. I became his dad when he was 6. His mother and I divorced. Turns out, he was the only thing that worked in the marriage. He's 20 years old now. He finally did meet his natural father. I'm the one he'll be having food with on Sunday.
Being a dad is way more important than being a father. Being both is simply a luxury to some.

(21,805 posts)I imagine it would be shocking to find such a thing out. The whole dishonesty thing with Ashley Madison users is horrific anyways. It's a predator finding a weakness to pounce on.
I was hoping to put a little positive light on the fact that raising a kid is much more important than making one. The upsetting part, IMO, is the affair. It's the marriage that failed. The kids belong to who they call "dad," whether or not they are connected genetically.
