(10,129 posts)That's what passes for critical thought in some corners around here. Best not to get sucked into the trap.
Dare I call it a Fallacy Culture?

(10,129 posts)It has been Really Quiet around here lately. But, Boy, today's Spike in boob-rage is really bringing back memories. Of course, given the Twitter idiots responses to Angelina, the moral brigade has some good low-hanging fruit to swing at.. kinda like Teeball... it's hard to Miss!

(22,143 posts)I read maybe three or four lines of that nonsense you were responding to before clicking off of it. It's ridiculous nonproductive bullshit and it's almost always by some guy looking to score points by calling out his fellow men for being the "uncivilized barbarians" they are.
Hell, I know some guys that act like wussified eunuchs around certain groups as a ploy to get laid.
The point is, fuck that dude, his stupid post, the idiots in his story, Jolie, her tits and Brad Pitt.
There isn't a damn thing anyone on an anonymous message board can say that's going to make me feel bad for being a man or for feeling as a man feels.
DU is in no way indicative of the real world nor would I want to live in the ultra homogenized, politically correct world that many on the site would like to see.
I couldn't imagine a world less fun except maybe a Mormon world.

so far its worth my efforts to dispel that garbage.

(80,708 posts)thing in the world- no matter what it is- can, in fact inevitably will be linked back to, you know, "those people and attitudes on DU" in a series of incredibly predictable 2 or 3 posts.
Oh, yes, "Child Soldiers Conscripted to Mine Diamonds in the Congo"? Well, tsk, tsk, we see those same attitudes regularly on display from some here on DU yes we do
(really? people on DU support child soldiers being forced to mine diamonds? Oh, okay. Please, proceed)
Yes, yes, it's a shame that our supposedly progressive men refuse to see how their attitudes are complicit with the same sort of subjugation oppression mindset that laughs heedlessly at a dongle joke, which also sends children as young as 4 into diamond mines yes yes
indeed. it's disgusting tsk tsk quack.
