...which I guess means "expect my father".
Weird.

(22,340 posts)"Expecto" is a version of "exspecto" which is "I expect"
"Patronum" is form of "patronus" which is "protector"
ElboRuum
(4,717 posts)True, protector may be the meaning, but the patr- prefix implies a male or male derived or applicable concept, of which "protector" may be considered, in times when Latin was an active language, assumed to be a male role.
Nonetheless, I believe the choice of this particular scene may not be simply for the gape-mouthed yell visual, but to illustrate another patr- word... you know... patriarchy.
Oooh. Dash clever of them.

It's 5 people in a rubber room, All talking to each other IMHO. If that.
These people honestly think their word salad "criticism" is going to influence the way the vast majority of humans on planet Earth enjoy fucking?
Crazy doesn't even begin to scratch the surface.

(36,917 posts)It's just the engine that drives one of those things is hate. While the other one more often than not results in hate, it's not what's driving it.
One also relies on funding from early onset dementia patients who want to buy their way into heaven in order to fund the spreading of their message while the other relies on books by misandrists and internet echo chambers.
So while you can certainly draw a lot of parallels, there's also enough differences to call it a nut of a different flavor.

And again, it makes things real easy when you can blame all your problems on an easily identifiable bad guy.
