Related: About this forum"MRAs" are SCARY! So scary, in fact, that I think one would make an excellent Halloween Costume.
Trouble is, I've never actually SEEN an "MRA".
So I'd have no idea what to wear.

(9,709 posts)at least according to radfem theory, men..just regular men, every man. We're all potential rapists, pedophiles, wife beaters, and who knows what else (our gender needs to be monitored closely). So, we must all be potential MRAs too...

You've finally found an answer to one of the more thought provoking questions of our times: "So exactly how scary are MRA's?"

(8,692 posts)So... I guess if you want to dress like my ex for Halloween you will need to hit up the cashmere section at Anne Taylor, find a really narrow pair of tortoise shell glasses and get a brunette version of the 90's Jennifer Aniston doo.
Accessorize with an early 2000's Blackberry and a spectacularly non-functional leather backpack and play the part by going full Tourette's at the mention of Gray Davis, her mother or feminist judges, lawyers and social workers.(Adherents of what she called "the gender studies lifestyle"
She is a lawyer who at the time we were together did family law on behalf of low-income fathers and lobbied in Sacramento in support of the California Paternity Justice Act vetoed by Davis in 2002.

Like the song says, "the lights went out, the oil went dry, we blamed it on the other guy"

(8,692 posts)Davis vetoed a law and in doing so basically said ruinous fraud is a-okay provided the targets are men of limited or no resources and the state stands to loose federal dollars. His position was horrifying - as federal funding for several child welfare programs was tied to states identifying "fathers" of children receiving the said aide, it really didn't matter if the records were fabrications or not.
Except it does matter when you're the ones getting your pay check garnished.
That was it for her, on the political spectrum she is hanging on to the edge of the far left by her fingernails, but after that she pushed her way to the front of the line to sign the recall petition.
It is all very personal for her as her father was fucked over in every way the State of California could muster as judges, social workers and cops were played for fools by her manipulative junkie shit of a mother.

(80,708 posts)To say it wasn't on my radar at the time as a California Resident, is an understatement.
What was the law that was vetoed by Davis?
