(36,900 posts)It's just that my family has no interest in them, so I'd be the only one watching. About the only thing I really miss is Bill Maher, because even if I could find his shows on other outlets, by the time they got there they wouldn't be as relevant.

(10,129 posts)Now we just do netflix and hulu plus... I miss my Hockey Night in Canada, but I get my Gordon Ramsay, Bar Rescue, Hollywood Treasures and such... And the wife gets to see all her crazy-ass horror movies so it works for now.

(16,399 posts)And find it funny how anyone could think the show "glorifies" the sexist and hard drinking days of the 60's. Once again, obviously people who don't watch, but appoint themselves experts on all that is patriarchal control.
Aside from the fact that the actors and actresses in their wardrobe make great magazine layouts, the characters on the show are clearly among the most miserable and saddest folks on TV, even if they themselves don't realize it.
Speaking of which.....your Christina Hendricks Emmy update!
What a woman.

4th law of robotics
(6,801 posts)I think they make a patch for that. Or maybe a 12 step program.
The first step is to admit you have a problem. Realize that no healthy person has any interest in seeing two sexy people engage in sex acts. That is disgusting to anyone with a normal (lack of) sex drive.
Shitty Mitty
(138 posts)It's TOO gray. ALL the characters are assholes. I simply can't fathom how anyone could find enjoyment in it.

(2,977 posts)I got S1 as a present and was hooked. I don't watch much on the box and won't pay a premium to the com cast crooks, so I will be a little behind. It is an excellent production. I might even read the books one of these days.

(10,575 posts)I know only Sibel Kekilli... but sometimes the sex feels out of place.
I watched season 2 one year after season 1, without consulting the "fire and ice wiki" it would have been difficult to follow for me.
Watching all the seasons on DVD in one week is probably the best thing to do.
Battlestar Galactica always had little flashbacks as a reminder before each episode, I liked that.

(5,909 posts)from on demand right now then will set to season pass. I had to clean out our DVR but we've been hurting for things to watch since Walking Dead ended.
My best friend loves it and we usually have the same taste in shows. Of all the movie channels, I think HBO put out the best shows and movies. Sopranos, Oz, Six Feet Under, Entourage, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood (it is pretty lame now though). I don't like Girls but watch it anyway and I had hopes for Enlightened but got bored with it. I'm pissed I never watched The Wire as I heard that was great.
I like Californication and Nurse Jackie on Showtime and we love Breaking Bad.
We finally got into it before the last season started when AMC ran a marathon which was great because we would watch 4-5 episodes a night. Just when we thought we had enough we would have to know what happened in the next episode so my husband and I would laugh and say just one more...we have to get some sleep!
We were so spoiled when the next season started as we were all caught up and we hated waiting an entire week for the next episode.

Hayabusa
(2,135 posts)in the "only Cat" scene. Looks like I was wrong.
She tried to play a part in the game of thrones. She lost and she died.

Each episode this season has been better than the last. I'm quite enjoying it.

But my second response, which registered seconds after the first, was: Who cares? If Benioff and Weiss can come up with material as strong as this on a regular basis, let them go for it. While a straight page-to-screen translation of Storm of Swords would make for terrific television (it's the best of the novels by a significant margin), in future seasons the showrunners' ability to save Martin from his own excesses will become evermore crucial.

(22,143 posts)That dude is freaking me out and I'm all about that shit. Granted, Theon is a traitorous douchebag but I'd like some context. Is the torture dude a Stark? A Greyjoy? Just a random nutcase?
At some point they have to reveal, right?
If you read the books and know, please don't spoil. But if anyone wants to speculate, go ahead.

(10,129 posts)Just 6 episodes in and I just know he knows all the dirt in the 7 kingdoms... like he said to John Snow, his only asset as far as his family is concerned is his intelligence, so he's honed it over his lifetime. Very intriguing guy.
