Men's Group

Not that I care, I'm southern and not wanted here anyways...
But I want to know - why does the Gender & Orientation category have FIVE, count them FIVE groups related solely to feminism, but only one for men? ANY opposing view in any of those groups gets your post deleted, but people like trumad, redqueen, and seabeyond are not only allowed in the Men's Group, but can say whatever they want?

(16,399 posts)You have to know, that others were formed because some people thought the originals were too welcoming of some, and not so welcoming of others.
Also, trumad was banned from here. Basically all he wanted to do was name call and use profanity.

(7,237 posts)Two of the women's groups have nothing to do with feminism and they want to keep them that way.
The three feminist groups exist because different flavors of feminism seem to be highly incompatible.
I would like to see one women's group and one feminist group but I don't see that happening. It's like protestantism, it keeps subdividing to pacify different sects.
If anyone decided more men's groups were needed, I am pretty sure Skinner would whip them right up (if there was sufficient user demand).
P.S. Southerners are A-OK in my book.

(4,717 posts)1. The backstory of why there are 5 women's group is pretty interesting and like Will DeM said, a perusal of the Meta archives might prove as interesting. I'll refrain from detail here because, well, I just don't have that kind of time. There is a LOT of it.
2. The Men's Group is not an echo chamber. Debate, discussion, and logically supported discourse is open to anyone who wishes to contribute in a positive and constructive manner. And no they can't "say whatever they want". They CAN say whatever they want, but they have to accept consequences for violations against SOP for the group, just like anyone else who posts here.

(6,801 posts)(at least in the HoF, others don't seem as authoritarian) is that the accepted views are often so bizarre they cannot stand up to earnest debate. Hence they must rely on censorship. The claim that all porn is rape (with fundamentalists as their main source of info) is not a claim that would do well if subject to honest debate.
Here views don't seem to be neither A) monolithic nor B) so off the wall that it's impossible to argue rationally in their favor.
