(4,472 posts)I think she's a decent actress, even though I couldn't tell you what movies she's been in, other than Book of Eli. As for being a whiskey saleswoman, she's doing what a lot of celebrities do...getting paid a shit-ton of money to sell us booze, cars, cosmetics, etc. Actors, athletes. celebrity chefs, politicians, anyone in the public spotlight, can get beaucoup bucks for endorsements and advertisements.
I think it sucks, and it lowers me estimation of those who do it, especially the people I like. Samuel L. Jackson telling me to use a particular credit card? Fuck off, Sam. You've already made millions and now you're increasing your wealth by trying to get me to apply for that credit card, or buy that car, or use Revlon products. I'm actually less likely to use the products they're selling, just because they all annoy me, and because I hate the way we worship celebrity in this country.

She looks fantastic. But close your eyes and it's Meg Griffen or Jackie selling it.
Scarlett sells soda.
I almost bought one. Almost.

(19,906 posts)I have nothing against whiskey.
If she were selling Republicanism or religion, that would make me much less desirious of seeing her in movies.

(36,392 posts)Being here in an unevolved state is depressing. Apparently one can make a pilgrimage to AA where a long-retired MD has set up a storefront for the express purpose of writing scrips for mmj (not kidding here) for those in "need". It's high time (no pun intended) I made that trip.
