you know what we need, a fight club group where members of mg and hof can converse

It woukd be an extreme fight club that woukd need rules and strong moderating. It would be interesting to be actually able to discuss stuff directly rather than third party so to speak.

it's not really HoF versus the Men's Group..it's more like HoF versus the vast majority of the rest of DU..

the vast majority of them are free to come in here and discuss things, instead of flinging poo from the safety of their keep. The various hosts we've had have done a great job of not abusing the ban-hammer.

The reason they were banned in the first place is for shitting in the sandbox, not for ideological reasons.

It's not hard to figure out when they are bragging about it afterward.

But in all fairness to the MG, there were quite a few discussions over words...like the "C" word...that thread was long, relentless and this group had nothing to do with it.

I felt so bad for Skinner...explaining over and over again and some people just couldn't move on and let it go.

Sound familiar?

ETA: I don't think the MG existed when that went down, but no members here were involved...a female "caused" the uproar...imagine that!

Evidently the idea was to take all the infighting and move it to a central location away from the rest of the site.

So there's a lot of truth to that although I don't really think much of it had to do with the MG as it was comparatively rare than anyone who regularly posts here ever initiated threads there. In the end it turned into the same people starting the same threads over and over again, and when it became counterproductive Skinner pulled the plug.
