The writing is on the wall for dozens of things we have grown up with
When’s the last time you popped in a cassette tape? Rented a movie at a video store? Wrote a check for groceries? Maybe you still do some — or all — of these things. But chances are good you’ve replaced many of what used to be common, everyday activities with more technologically updated trends.

It can be tough to believe that many of the things we once considered essential could one day disappear. Laura Ingalls Wilder couldn’t foresee the end of the covered wagon era back when she was crossing the prairie in one, either. But as the co-author of two books about faded childhood trends — “Whatever Happened to Pudding Pops?” and “The Totally Sweet ’90s” — I can assure you, obsolescence is always grabbing on to new victims.

1. To be honest

yes, I do foresee the end of cash as we know it, but for me, I'll ALWAYS have a keyed lock to my home. There's just too many hackers out there who can easily bypass those electronic door locks. Yes, anyone can get into a house (someone busted a window to get inside mine) but I'm certainly not going to make it easier.

As for automobiles, not much I can say or do about that. And yes, I cannot tell you the last time I sat down and wrote a check for anything, much less wrote a check at the supermarket. I do remember almost 40 years ago laughing at someone when they told me within 50 years we'd be a 'cashless' society. Credit Cards were everywhere, but we still used 'knuckle-busters' to imprint the card numbers onto the carbon slips at the gas station and jewelry store I worked at. No such thing as a magnetic stripe, or 'Pay-At-The-Pump' convenience. Yup, times have changed, some for the better, some not so much.
