I checked my registration and sample ballot today.

Only thing on the sample ballot for my precinct was two women running to be a
"Member, ...Central Comittee - I don't know anything about either one, perhaps a nurse or teacher, or the other an OB/GYN from googling the name - no issues; no candidates - nothing else. How do I chose or learn more about these women?

1. look on their facebook page

2. Check out your state league of women voters website

There might be info on them if they responded to questions.
The league lists all candidates and provides information about them if they responded.

Otherwise, like mentioned above, check out their Facebook or campaign website.

I voted in the NC R primary this year, and had to go to some candidates websites because they didn't respond to the league questions.

3. I'd never vote for any person w/that R after their name! That said,

just trying hard to know my Party's candidates that my county bd of elections has shown on their site for my primary ballot (hope I can trust it! as I'd like to vote early) so as to add some support to my Party's candidates. I live in one of those 5-times gerrymandered areas in my state, and these primary slots were different and unopposed on The D side, and at least one is likely destined to appear on the general ballot. The chaos was so real that the State Supreme Court had to rule on the dates on which candidates needed to make application to appear on primary ballots. Neither of the D candidates seem to have personal political websites - that's a problem as the Rs seem to have a strategy to weaken things at the process level especially in new local state districts - Guess I'll just have to go with the flow of what's on both unopposed D ticket slots.

4. Believe me it was painful

I'm in a red district in NC, Meadows and cawthorns. Sadly, the R primary here had 9 contests.
4 judges, city board of commissioners seat, state house rep, and another I'm forgetting, along with US Congress and Senate seats. The Dem primary had only those 2, and I will vote Dem in the general election. But those 7 other races will have only rethug candidates on the ballot here.
So I have registered unaffiliated so I am free to vote in their primary when I want to have a say in NC government. Several of those I voted for won the primary and will therefore win the general election because they're the only one on the ballot.

Reading bios and blurbs from the r candidates was unpleasant to say the least.
I ruled out many by reading "I'm an America first candidate" or "my philosophy is most closely aligned with Alito" or "I'm a proud Christian conservative". I've only voted in their primary a handful of times, with no regrets but no great joy.

My cousin lives in Cleveland, a proud Democrat She and I, raised in NYC, have bemoaned the fact that we both ended up in "purple" states.

We are both hopeful that Dems will triumph in our states. Margins have been close.
