Joe Biden
Related: About this forumHello old friends --
Joe's meeting with Colbert awoke me from my ennui and disgust.
Whatever he decides, he's got my support, as always.
Hope everyone is well, and so nice to see you still here! ***hug***

Thanks for the warm embrace!

(113,794 posts)I'm actually supporting ALL Dems at this point, starting with Sanders in the top spot. But, Joe has been proving himself to be a valued leader as VP, and deserves all consideration.
gateley
(62,683 posts)And I'm with you -- whoever is the Dem candidate whether I like him/her or not, I'll be the first one in line to support and vote.
A while back I said to my friend that I think Joe's time might have passed -- that he IS part of the old school, when parties worked together and members for the most part cared about their constituents and the country rather than what type of gig they could get when they left office. It's a different atmosphere, now.
But seeing him last night, not as Obama/s/WH's champion but as himself, made me go hmmmm......
We'll see. I trust him to make the best decision for us all.
As I posted on another thread, I just don't want him lying his deathbed going "I should have run..."
ESPECIALLY if the "Beau told him to run" story is true. He'd feel EXTRA guilty.

(4,940 posts)I hope, for his sake, he doesn't run. He'd have the ability and support, but I hope he chooses the easier way.

(62,683 posts)We honestly don't know which would be best for him -- it might be just the thing that helps him heal -- even if he were to lose.
I want him to do what's best for all involved, and I trust that he will.

(4,940 posts)And from my mom's home state - I still miss going there!
He's also brilliant, which is a most deciding factor for me.
gateley
(62,683 posts)But I would with most (some?) of the others, too.
We'll have to see what happens.
I'm happy for Joe that so many people are looking at him through different eyes as a result of this exposure.

(28,151 posts)I had no dog in the race, as it were, in those days but have always really liked Joe Biden. I came in here to celebrate him getting chosen for VP, exciting stuff.
Mostly I remember you as class acts during that primary season. Sadly you're the only ones I remember that about.
Anyhow, I come back to celebrate with you again, this great man. That interview will stay with me forever.
Julie--not trying to be a gate crasher
gateley
(62,683 posts)Actually, I'd forgotten! But now I recall people bitching about others in threads and saying "except for the Bidenites"
To be fair, he wasn't on the stage all that long, so we didn't have a lot of time to get beaten up like those supporting candidates who were actually in for the long haul.
And how nice of you to "gate crash", Julie -- it means a lot to those who love the guy. So very considerate.
ETA: I love your tag line/visual. Wishing the best for your pick, too. Honestly, we each just want who we feel is best for us, I don't understand the animosity toward those supporting others. We can each take strength that WE know better than anyone else.

(28,151 posts)I am neutral in the primary and will be quite content to vote for our candidate!
Cheers to all you "Bidenites"!

Give it a go,Joe.
gateley
(62,683 posts)although not sure what it'll do to the rest of the candidates (if anything).
I wonder when he'll let us know one way or the other. *on edge of chair*

(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]He's my first pick after Bernie.

(62,683 posts)We really do need REAL change -- and honestly, I think once the whole country gets a look at Bernie his ratings will soar. People are yearning for truth talkers, and as we know, they are few are far between.

(9,199 posts)I'm doing better than I deserve, no doubt. Poverty agrees with me. Come see us over at our Bidenite FB group... https://www.facebook.com/groups/107158239350086/ I cross-posted this thread for Pat, Jill, Dee and all to see that you've risen above the flotsam to stand once again with our beloved Cupcake. May our journey together be blessed.

(62,683 posts)Bernie, I'm cautiously hopeful again!
I'll vote for whoever gets the nomination, but the support for Joe and Bernie makes me think that people may REALLY mean it when they say "no more politics as usual".

(62,683 posts)God, it is SO GOOD to see all of you!!
I'm so interested to see how this cycle unfolds -- which shocks me. If someone had offered me a magic potion to let me sleep until election day and all I had to do was walk in and punch the D candidate, I would have taken it. But thankfully that didn't happen because seeing the amazing reception Joe got, plus the amazing ratings Bernie is pulling in, make me excited and hopeful!
Again, I'm so happy so many of you are still here. I feel like I'm home.

How have you been????
I'm so glad you're still here!!

(11,303 posts)Joe but seeing him last night on Colbert he seems to still be grieving and it makes me feel that he isn't going to jump into the race. He's aged so much and kept looking down. It looked like he was really trying not to cry. I wish him the best.
gateley
(62,683 posts)A bit stooped, less bounce to his step, a bit drawn and haggard. The footage of him in the parade the other day, though, looked like the old Joe. Grieving is a wave, a process, good days, bad days, a few steps forward, one step back -- as we all know. Maybe it was a low day for him.
I think after that show, America sincerely wishes him the best.

(504 posts)I was a Biden '08 supporter on here, too. Not as vocal as some, but every bit as steadfast.
I'm with gateley - whatever Joe decides, I'll support.
gateley
(62,683 posts)I haven't watched in a LONG time!) if there will be an announcement by Joe. I'll vote for whomever gets the nomination, but probably wouldn't have the passion I'd have for Joe, but Joe's one of a kind, as we all know.

That interview was so great yet sad-I could feel the pain from both men for their losses. It was so honest and human.
Missed you, gateley.
