Funny! "‘Air strike’ grounds Kerry!

No, not in France! But for heading to France!

PARIS – Because of an “air strike” at the Brussels airport on Wednesday, Secretary of State John F. Kerry hopped a train to Paris after a NATO meeting.

Yes, air strike is what they call it. And no, they don’t mean a cruise missile, just a European labor dispute. (Loop heard it was the air traffic controllers.)

Kerry and a handful of top staffers dashed from NATO headquarters after a news conference to make the 6:13 pm train. The trip is just over an hour.

He made it in time for dinner.

The rest of the staff and reporters took a later train. Kerry’s government plane was coming later, after the airport reopened.

A senior State Department official who made the cut for the first train said Kerry “spent the time talking with staff about recent world events and the history of the countryside the train traveled through.”

The U.S. Embassy in Paris “can’t remember the last time a secretary of state has traveled in to Paris on the train.”

If it happened one week ago, I don't know how JK and his staff could have had reach Paris. Because our railways employees were on strikes too!!! Well, it just shows that this guy isn't afraid of meeting real people, isn't it? I saw a video.( no JK crossing the waiting hall, only Diplomatic security) The autorities didn't locked the Paris Nord train station, they just put place a perimeter of protection, thats all!

Obviously his plane would provide more security, but it likely would have taken as much time. As a Senator, he was a HUGE advocate of high speed rail for decades. He spoke of how because they went from the heart of one city to another (at least in the DC, NYC, Boston route he was speaking of) they could be about as fast.

I bet it was fun for his staffers to have what was likely a more informal discussion than usual.
