John Kerry
Related: About this forumNOT about SoS: nice things said about Sen. Kerry
NB: this thread is intended NOT to be a discussion about SoS (even though the quote comes from yet another piece on that).
I am posting this with the idea that there is at least some good consequence of the @#$$: I see more statements about Sen. Kerry that suggest that people are finally beginning to see who he really is, and/or appreciate who he is. This is for the good no matter what the outcome of this ridiculous (and needlessly ridiculous) situation.
If you have any other examples, please post them here. I know that there have been several good examples on other threads.. .I welcome people reminding us of those older examples here.
Anyway, this is from David Ignatius in today's WaPo (PLEASE do not comment on the overall topic of his oped, which is, alas, on the Subject Which Must Not be Named on This Thread. If you care to comment on the entirety of his oped, please do so on another thread). First sentence is included ONLY to provide context, not to invite commentary on the SWMNBNONTT:

Yup, thinks outside the box. That's my Senator, and I'm glad that someone is saying this publicly. The "outside the box" part is a key reason why I support him so strongly.
Other examples of compliments, anyone?
Remember: NO commentary on the Subject Which Must Not Be Named on This Thread.

At times, he has been the only senator and highest-ranking U.S. official to attend the talks, noted Andrew Light, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress. In those years, the Massachusetts senator took on the task of reassuring a skeptical world that the United States would eventually act on climate change.
Light remembered Kerry's appearance in Bali, Indonesia, in 2007, nearly seven years into the George W. Bush administration, during which he promised the global community that the United States would be able to take a more proactive role after the 2008 presidential election because both Obama and 2008 GOP nominee John McCain believed in climate change.

(19,581 posts)I know we all were not pleased with the outcome, but he stuck to his principals and was a real man of the people during this fight to keep Alito off of the SC.

"Kerry as a statesman is already a historically important chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and as a war hero has amply proven his courage under fire.
The Republican admiration for Kerry is sincere and shared by Democratic admiration for Kerry. He is among the most qualified candidates in America for any Cabinet position and for the presidency itself. Kerry is a statesman of world-class magnitude and a highly decorated warrior who has vast credibility and clout with both diplomatic and military leaders around the world. He is on course to become one of the most important chairmen of the Foreign Relations committee in the history of the Senate."
