There were also reports of hail and shattered glass due to the force of the wind, as well as fallen trees, flooded streets, and up to 176,000 people without power.

According to the Fire Department, a tree fell on a taxi on Senador Queiroz Avenue, in the Sé region, downtown. The vehicle’s driver, a 43-year-old man, was struck and died.

The state’s Civil Defense issued a "severe alert" for rain to the cell phones of those in the western and northern zones, as well as downtown.

Neighborhoods such as Santa Cecília, in the city center, and Pinheiros and Alto de Pinheiros, in the west zone, lost power, and there were reports of hail.
