Cuba's rural towns are hit hard with fuel shortages
With food and medications already in short supply amid an economy that was severely hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic, the end of the countrys two-currency system and a tightening of U.S. sanctions, the lack of fuel and cooking gas is perceived by many Cubans in the islands countryside as the last straw.
More on crushing and starving Cubans into submission by decimating their economy with extraterritorial sanctions specifically designed to destroy their economy ...

(19,068 posts)Exchange ideas and then try to help get stability and help them to prosper. Exchange students, respect all ideas. Cubans are very environmentally involved and have medical schools. I dont know what to suggest about Haiti but it didnt get that way overnight..a complicated and corrupt history but .. I just think we should pay more attention to our island neighbors without being overly assertive. Jmo

(3,001 posts)The post 1959 government administrations of Cuba have ALWAYS sought peace and normalization - but not on the US's Monroe Doctrine terms.
Cuba invites and trains medical students from around the world, including from the US.
Cuba assists Latin American and Caribbean nations establish and maintain medical systems and clinics.
Cuba has world renown disaster mitigation and rescue brigades.
And so much more.
So very strange that a nation, and a poor one at that, that does what it can to make the world a better place for the impoverished and in-need is victim of bi-partisan US sanctions designed to cripple their economy and ability to prosper.
I hear you. And, thanks for your kind thoughts in your posts.

(162,168 posts)since the late 1800's. The plan has always been to control Cuba, no matter what the people wanted in their own country and their own lives. Clearly the only Cubans who mattered to Washington were the ones who owned the property, the business, and the black workers who did all the work for them and made the island function for their pleasure, wealth, and enjoyment.
This fall, we will have seen the 31st annual UN General Assembly rejection by every country other than the US and Israel, of the US embargo, the economic war on the people of Cuba for not overthrowing the revolutionary government which overthrew the bloody, torture-happy, US-Mafia connected, murderous Fulgencio Batista.
Barack Obama had taken the initial steps in cleaning up the utterly vile relation the US has created against the independent people of Cuba who still do not want to be controlled by foreign interests.
The whole world looks forward to seeing the record finally cleansed and emptied of the sadism, greed, racism, and genuine stupidity.
Thank you for your principles, and your courage, Marcus IM.
