The 2016 primary fight is about to be rehashed in the DNC chair fight.

Certain individuals couldn't help but take jabs at a man with executive experience, a former civil rights attorney for the justice department, a cabinet secretary who has fought to make workers lives better during his tenure, and a man who was in the running to be HRC's VP because he doesn't run for election/reelection in a solid blue district. I'm solidly Team Perez.

1. It's all about Bernie

Nothing to do with ideas about the future if the party. All they care about is who endorsed Bernie in the primary.

I actually like Ellison. He's my congressman, but my reasons for liking him have nothing to do with Bernie. I'm agnostic about the DNC position. Perez seems great, and he did important work in DOJ. I don't get to interview the candidates, so I am content to leave the decision to those who do.

This carving out camps based entirely on a long settled primary takes the politics of personality to new levels. We see unquestioning allegiance to politicians based on an past primary endorsement, regardless of their positions on issues. Someone can be pro-life, islamophobic, oppose gay rights, oppose peace treaties, or even cozy up to Trump. Yet the fact they endorsed Bernie means they cannot ever be criticized or questioned. I don't know how one is supposed to deal with that kind of mindset.

2. Tom Perez Career:

#TomPerez is an accomplished person. He's the Secretary of Labor but has done so much more. A few highlights. 1/

Early on in his career, Perez worked for the DoJ in the Civil Rights division, prosecuting white supremacists. 2/

Perez then served as the Deputy Assistant AG for civil rights and led an inter-agency task force to protect workers from exploitation. 3/

He then served on Montgomery County council where he pushed legislation against predatory lending & introduced affordable drug initiative 4/

Perez worked on O'Malley's successful campaign for Governor of MD and then served as his Secretary of Labor. 5/

Perez then served as Assistant AG for Civil Rights under Obama, where one focus was eradicating discrimination against ppl with HIV. 6/

Among his other accomplishments as AAG, he oversaw training/implementation of the Hate Crimes Prevention Act and fought for LGBT rights. 7/


Perez fiercely fought against trans discrimination, police abuse of PoC, sued Sheriff Arpaio & fought against rollback of voting rights 8/

And during his tenure as Secretary of Labor, Perez has been an exemplary ally to unions and American workers. 9/

In sum, Tom Perez has a career-long record of fighting for *all* of us: black, brown, immigrant, woman, union member, LGBTQ. 10/

Tom Perez has been in our corner for doing the work. He's the right person at the right time to fight an evil he's been fighting for yrs 11/

3. What I resent are the labels -

if I don't support someone blessed by the progressive wing ( as embodied by Sanders) people like me "are the problem".

i'm tired of it all, I was tired of it in February, I'm still tired of it now.

4. Also for Perez.

He would have been my pick for Hillary's VP for all of the above reasons.

And I like Ellison just fine, but I'd like to see a full-timer in the job.

5. I like Tom Perez and also Ray Buckley, NH DNC Chair

I would be happy with either candidate.

I would like Ellison without Bernie but feel as if Bernie would be Ellison's shadow. I also don't want to see Nina Turner at DNC and fear she would be part of Ellison team.
