Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumWhen the uninformed Hillary bashing makes you want to live in the woods. Alone. Forever.
I'm an academic, so educating myself in detail on the issues is my line of work, rather than grabbing on to talking points or cheap slogans that sound good but have no basis in reality. I sometimes try to share information with the more vocal, less informed critics. I try to be reasonable, hoping facts will make a difference. It doesn't work. People want to feel right, regardless of whether they are actually right. That's a human instinct. I get it. Being wrong in an argument feels terrible, and people will ignore any information in order to avoid that feeling.
She's going to be one of the smartest, most capable presidents we'll ever see, and yet there's so many people that are blinded by cheap headlines and ridiculous accusations they have swallowed whole. And amidst all this she's making history. But hating and feeling right feels too good to wake up to the reality of the moment.
So I don't really know what I'm saying here. Maybe I shouldn't say shit to those who hate Hillary. Maybe I shouldn't try to spread information. It feels pointless. Perhaps all there is, is to hope that enough people already know. Enough to get her elected. Right now it looks that way. That's good, because I'm burned out.

(2,117 posts)I can't wait to see what she can do as president. I've seen so many good candidates lose against cro-mag republicans that I still don't want to start counting my chickens. But I have hope this year.

Watch and use Fox news as expert in everything to do with HRC!

(2,117 posts)In fact it happened to me today. Same person I see trashing the media, when wanting to make a point links said media and treats it like the word of heaven.

(2,032 posts)I find it curious that he, whose name shall not be spoken, continues to show up in the news so frequently. He's lost his bid for the nomination by every metric, so how is his opinion on our Platform/Convention anymore relevant that Ted Cruz's opinion on the mechanics of the rEpublican Platform/Convention. Thankfully, you don't see Ted's smarmy face all over the TV anymore, but why is the runner-up of our primary taken so seriously while theirs is not. Certainly, there is plenty of chaos across the aisle if that was truly their only interest. I'm sure "Lying Ted" has equally valid opinions on the direction his party is appears to be taking.

(5,123 posts)The reason to KEEP doing what you're doing, IMO, is that at some point, someone is going to unstop their ears, open their eyes (when reading) and actually LISTEN to you.

(42,454 posts)I don't argue here much, but my opinions are fully informed when it comes to something as important as POTUS. With Hillary, I can acknowledge her flaws, praise where she excels (so many areas) and am very comfortable in my own skin. I have no need to rely on conspiracy, old-- or new-- Rightwing bullit points, or blow-hard pundits or sanctimonious Op-eds.
Real, verifiable information is out there. It's a feeling like right after fresh spring shower to access it, to acknowledge it and to understand it. I dislike feeling uninformed or worse, rely on faulty reasoning and logical falicies.
I'm reasonably intelligent and I like feeling that way too--so it's good be be around people who can fairly and maturely analyze information. I avoid ones who can't unless I'm very bored.
I "get" certain criticisms of Hillary. I don't get hate, hyperbole, or just plain bullshit.
So I feel ya.

(3,580 posts)I was in a ridiculous argument with a stranger explaining that the sec of state does not command marines but it was pointless. Somehow we have to step up when one of us tires and present reality to the brainwashed.

(10,893 posts)yesterday afternoon while doing my workout routine, and they were discussing the poll numbers again. They said that while 42% of voters are for HC and 40% are for the Trumpanzee, most of the respondents believe that neither of them would be good presidents. That doesn't make sense to me, and it looks like yet another piece of an anti-HC agenda on a supposed left-leaning network. I should seriously consider cutting back even more on my TV news.
