Politico: Trump boosted, Clinton hurt by primary media coverage

http://www.politico.com/story/2016

Based on the eight outlets studied, the ad-equivalent value of Trump's media coverage was worth approximately $55 million. The next closest candidate, Jeb Bush, trailed by $19 million, with an ad-equivalent value of coverage totaling around $36 million. As far as the media’s claims that it has been covering Trump in “watchdog” mode, the study appears to discount that notion. The majority of Trump coverage was positive or neutral in all outlets studied, ranging from 63 percent by The New York Times to 74 percent by USA Today.

Snip

The Democratic side of the race received significantly less attention from the media, particularly during the early phase of the campaign in which Clinton jumped out to large polling leads over the likes of Sanders, Martin O'Malley, Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee. In terms of “good news” vs. “bad news,” Sanders was the beneficiary of the most favorable coverage during what the report calls “the invisible primary.”
Just as media coverage boosted Trump in the polls, it slowly ate away at Clinton’s advantage. Among Clinton, Trump, Sanders and Cruz, the former secretary of state earned the highest percentage of coverage related to issues — a relatively small 28 percent, while just 12 percent of Trump coverage related to issues. For Cruz, just 9 percent of coverage related to the issues, while 7 percent of coverage was issue-related for Sanders. But in issue-related coverage of Clinton, an overwhelming 84 percent was negative in tone, the study found, compared with 43 percent for Trump, 32 percent for Cruz and just 17 percent for Sanders.

Trump is the GOP candidate for no other reason than that the media wanted him to be. Pretty frightening, IMO.

And it's no surprise to find out that the media is also an obvious hater that Hillary Clinton has repeatedly defeated at their own game. Just like all the others she brushes off on her way to getting progressive work done.

the news and America being worse off than before.. as when they gave us bush2.

But, they couldn't keep us from President Obama and they won't keep us from Madam POTUS, either.

Sanders was the beneficiary of the most favorable coverage during what the report calls “the invisible primary.” Just as media coverage boosted Trump in the polls, it slowly ate away at Clinton’s advantage.

And, some of sanders' fans are blaming the media for his loss.. lol

I maintained through this whole campaign that Hillary had the m$m, BS, trump, and the gop bashing her disingenuously and she beat them all.

If anyone has been treated unfairly by the media, it's Sec. Clinton. When people weigh the advantages and disadvantages each candidate had, they never mention that.

I read an article on VOX discussing studies showing that Clinton had the most negative and the least positive coverage of all the candidates.

On top of that, the media has also pretended that misogyny and sexism have not been factors in this election season.

Thanks to Hillary, of course!.. And, to the brilliant work from her campaign managers and her awesome networking!

It's happening and there's nothing they can do to stop it!

Just like they tried (unsuccessfully) with Obama, history will not look kindly on people who tried to destroy her and smear her reputation.

No wonder the public is so poorly informed. "...the former secretary of state earned the highest percentage of coverage related to issues — a relatively small 28 percent, while just 12 percent of Trump coverage related to issues."

The actual report on media coverage is here, and its worth the time:
http://shorensteincenter.org/pre-primary-news-coverage-2016-trump-clinton-sanders/

"The Democratic race in 2015 received less than half the coverage of the Republican race. Bernie Sanders’ campaign was largely ignored in the early months but, as it began to get coverage, it was overwhelmingly positive in tone. Sanders’ coverage in 2015 was the most favorable of any of the top candidates, Republican or Democratic. For her part, Hillary Clinton had by far the most negative coverage of any candidate. In 11 of the 12 months, her “bad news” outpaced her “good news,” usually by a wide margin, contributing to the increase in her unfavorable poll ratings in 2015."

snip

"Strictly in terms of tonal balance—good news vs. bad news—Sanders was the most favorably reported candidate—Republican or Democratic—during the invisible primary."

15. Censored her message, & her Campaign Platform long enough for her opponant to claim it as his own

He had no platform in the beginning. Hillary had a well detailed plan for a better America.
She was censored & vilified to the tune of his $16 million social media messaging push, just long enough to take her platform and make his new image from it.

There is nothing he stumped on that Hillary hadn't already outlined in her original campaign platform, developed before Bernie ever entered the race. But we never heard about it because she was purposefully censored.
We all know that.

He sounded an awful lot like Hillary at first, then came the relentless mysogynistic villification & $16 million social media hate messaging against her.

This is exactly why the Dem Party put their Super Delegates in place. The firewall against anyone who cleverly disguises themselves as a Dem in order to do to the Dem Party what the Libertarian/John Bircher Koch family did to the Republican Party with the usurpers of their very own personally funded Tea Party.
And look where our Congress ended up with that useless angry & divisive bunch.
"Divide & Conquer". Its the oldest game in the book, and that was the sole purpose of Bernie Sanders in the 2016 race.

Sanders only mission in the 2016 race was to divide & weaken the Dem Party & prevent Hillary from becoming our 45th US President.

He's been running against the entire Dem Party & its President since the beginning.

Funny how all the big demands he is now making from Hillary & the Party sound just like what is written in Hillary's original Campaign Platform.

Bernie Sanders now demands & claims credit for Hillary's hard work & detailed efforts putting together her Platform.

Chump.
