(32,623 posts)WASHINGTON (AP) Bernie Sanders says he and Hillary Clinton are set to talk Tuesday evening after the final Democratic presidency primary about "her campaign" and whether it reflects his progressive agenda.
...
Sanders tells NBC's "Meet the Press" that he wants to make sure Clinton commits to his priorities such as a minimum wage increase and climate change reform.
Sanders says after "we have that kind of discussion," he'll make decisions on when and whether to quit the race.
Sanders has some clout over the party agenda. He controls a big chunk of the delegates to the party's convention.

Since her campaign already reflects a progressive agenda, including the issues of climate change and min wage, this should be a breeze.
He really can't claim otherwise.

Seriously, Bernie is old news after the horrific wingnut attacks in Orlando the past few days. First, the young singer and then the night club attack.
Damn it, we don't have time for political tantrums. The Republicans started this crap almost 50 years ago with their Lee Atwater playbook of divide and conquer the populace, which has culminated in Donald Freaking Trump.

(31,810 posts)on how many of his positions she will add to her platform. At least, that was how I took his remarks.

(521 posts)God what an asshole! He lost. He doesn't get to tell her how to run her campaign or who to pick for VP. I sure hope the DNC never allows a non-Democrat to appropriate our infrastructure ever again. A real Democrat would not have conditions and would support the nominee for the good of the party.
Cha
(305,137 posts)did she did demand on condition of her support?
BS is still grandstanding and thinks he will have the last word.. he won't.. We Will Win without him.
For every one of his BBB who withhold their vote from Hillary there will be new people registering to support her and stop trump. President Obama and Hillary will see to that and leave sanders in the dust.
He's trying to hold his fans' votes against Hillary for his ego.
And, btw, BS is the one who never compromises but now he wants everyone else to compromise with him.
For nothing.. her platform is much better than his.

(51,401 posts)The word you seek is "capitulate." His price for any support whatsoever - and he decides how much to give - is the adoption of his entire platform and the release of the speech transcripts.

(305,137 posts)Capitulate to his demands even though she already has it in her Platform so he can strut around like a damn Peacock.
Thanks for your link, Rose~

(216 posts)Those already ARE on her agenda. I suppose he'll be taking credit for that now.
It's kind of like going to Dairy Queen with a little one and letting them "buy" your ice cream with the nickel from their piggy bank. You just kind of pat them on the head and say thank you and then proceed to enjoy your double fudge banana split with wet walnuts and whipped cream as planned.
I'm hungry now.

(30,058 posts)on many issues, he has gone to her position on Dodd Frank and not so much on the medicare position as he has been, whatever the problems are they can be negotiated. To join together and defeat Trump has to the number one priority.

(9,494 posts)He is just try to play this out so he can have a big Socialist showboat at the Philly convention. We will see who plays this game to win in the end.
I have a feeling that Bernie lost the battle and lost the war.

(15,493 posts)but only "expects" to meet with Hillary? Has he even discussed this with her campaign or is this yet another of his grandstands to the press? Generally such meetings are held without much public fanfare.
But per his own statements, Sanders expects Hillary to give in to his demands.
Am I a "sore winner" merely for pointing out that I have never seen the loser of the Dem Presidential primary campaign insist that the winner essentially do what the loser wants?
I do remember Eugene McCarthy in 1968 as a sore loser. Also, his very late and very lukewarm endorsement of Hubert Humphrey may have been the difference that caused a Humphrey loss in 1968. But there were a lot of different things in play then that are not the case now.
Unlike Sanders, McCarthy had actually won the popular vote in the primaries. Even so, McCarthy did not did not insist that Humphrey let him dictate the agenda. McCarthy's snit with the Dem "establishment" continued after the 1968 election and he essentially became a footnote in political history.
Hillary is in a much stronger position today than Humphrey ever was in 1968. Bernie continues with his present tactics at his peril, IMO, and I hope that he will reconsider and choose a wiser path.

(51,401 posts)Let me guess: he is going to fly to New York, show up at her campaign office, and demand to meet with her. If she's not there (maybe because she's out on the campaign trail ripping Donald Trump another asshole) he will proclaim Hillary is "scared to meet with the stronger candidate."
