Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumI've Got The Feeling Sanders Is Going To Get Buried Under The Avalanche Of Endorsements For HRC
Now that President Obama has endorsed Hillary, there is no reason for every other Dem not to endorse her. There is no reason for any uncommitted super delegate to hold back. There is zero political upside to sticking with or endorsing Sanders at this point, so we may well see a couple more of his supers switching to Hillary as well.
By the weekend, Sander's intransigence is going to be a Page 20 story, if that.

(15,500 posts)I'm sure the meeting this morning was civil, but I'm also betting it was Obama laying it on the line to Bernie.

(2,798 posts)When I read that Sanders responded with silence, when he was asked about his reaction to Obama's endorsing Hillary, I asked myself: Is Sanders a broken and defeated man, or is he plotting his next move? Why am I so unable to trust him? What about his character leads me to believe that he still wants to cause trouble? Time will tell. I sincerely hope my suspicions are unjustified.

(52,570 posts)it will turn more of BS's supporters against him. Most people get how important this election is, and they won't appreciate his screwing with the convention.

(24,630 posts)counted on.
They effectively kicked him and his stillborn revolution to the curb. The D power players have in one day changed the narrative, and Sanders isn't part of that narrative. Not yet.
Of course, they'll welcome him into the Hillary tent should he see the light, but they're moving forward without him at this point. If he doesn't come on board, any protest he or his followers mount at the convention will be seen as taking place outside of the Party. They may as well be the Greens. They won't be seen as Dems.
Again, Sanders' political amateurism was exposed for all to see today. He pushed his way into a meeting at the WH, a move he thought was a power play on his part. But just like Wile E Coyote chasing the Road Runner, Bernie charged in through the front door, after which Obama did nothing to impede his self-serving momentum, opened the back door and allowed Sanders to run himself right off the cliff.
His departure will be an afterthought. It's too bad, really. Had he withdrawn Tuesday night/Wednesday, he would have gotten a lot more attention and positive reporting.

(27,887 posts)Sanders can do what he wants but most everyone else is ready to get going on taking down Trump. That's the focus now. As it should be.

(67,782 posts)....there's still Jimmy Carter and some other high-level Democrats/superdelegates.
Merkley has already told Sanders it's over so he may flip, she got a couple of union and organizational endorsements, and on and on.
