Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumI'm pissed at the AP--they're undercutting/jumping Clinton's victory rally and speech
tomorrow.
It's also going to feed a lot of negative perceptions (won based on backroom rigging rather than voting), since they're basing it off of superdelegates who haven't even disclosed their intentions in public yet.
the AP has been calling them up and asking them if they're committed and to whom, and apparently quite a few blabbed.
I imagine Brooklyn will disclaim this.

(28,834 posts)As for Hillary's rally and speech, tomorrow is still as good a time as any because tomorrow's delegates will only add to her total, regardless. Would tomorrow have been a better visual? Sure. But in the long run, the end result is the same.

(28,834 posts)It's also possible that the AP knew about some of them already, and it only took one or two more to seal the deal.

I'm thinking the vast majority of people won't know anyway... (Kind of wish I didn't yet.)

(7,566 posts)It does undercut her hard won victory. Bernie will never accept the New Jersey and California results.

(68,868 posts)They're right to be a bit pissed about a winner being called based on private conversations with party insiders
Screw you, AP.

Not much we can do about it, is there?

The polling place was at an old hotel with a bar and TV sets were around with Dan Rather doing election coverage. He does the breaking news bit - called if for Reagan and me and a whole bunch of other folks walked out.
Not happy about this at all.

(49,169 posts)I much prefer getting information when it is available than having them hold it for political reasons. If anyone is to blame, it is those that pledged support. I assume they were sending Bernie a message. Keep in mind that Bernie has extended this campaign by lieing for the last couple of months saying it was a steep climb. Nonsense. He has been eliminated mathematically for a long time. The SD's have their own motivations, you would have to ask them why they did this today.

(10,350 posts)The AP was just doing their job in reporting an historic moment in history. Hillary can't control the media and neither can Sanders even though it may disrupt their plans.

(5,125 posts)I'm not going to fault a news outlet for reporting actual news. THAT is their impetus, not what either candidate wanted, but the news.
Thing is, it's BIG news, and HISTORIC. The FIRST woman candidate to have won the nomination of a major political party in this country. So that is what I'm focusing on instead, is the historic nature of her candidacy!
