Simpson-Bowles is BS

ellisonz --

Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles are back with a new plan, and it's even worse than the first one.

Their new plan doesn't just feature the same harsh cuts to Social Security and Medicare Republicans have been calling for -- they've added an extra $500 billion in cuts, cuts even John Boehner wasn't asking for.

This is exactly what D.C. austerity hawks were waiting for: Another "bi-partisan" attempt to push the budget debate further right, putting more of the burden on seniors and working families.

DFA members have already made thousands of calls to Congress this week, telling them to reject any benefit cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Now we have to redouble our efforts, before the right wing tries to exploit this new opening.

We've got the momentum, let's keep it up.

Thanks for all you do,

- Jim

They despise it even more than they despise things like the minimum wage and agencies that keep corporations honest.

They despise it most of all because it keeps non productive people alive and living independently. They think we should have the decency to drop dead on the job if we didn't get rich quick.

Get ready for your long distance phone bill to go up. We need to fight these assholes with everything we've got. This is their last possible chance to kill the program and they know it.

...I think they hate Medicare for similar reasons - I think they just want people to die quickly when they get old so that they don't continue to consume while not being "productive" to the corporate powers. It's all about making the oligarchs rich at this point - people be damned. I like how they've stopped trying to privatize Social Security and now just want to destroy it.
