“the health care law is about people like me. it’s alyciacare”

“Alycia is the mother of Avey, who is a beautiful, sweet, 3-year-old girl who also happens to have Leukemia. Imagine what that’s like for a parent. While you’re just figuring out how to take care of a baby, you’ve got to figure out how you’re going to pay for expensive treatment that could save your baby’s life.

Any parent knows that there is nothing we won’t do to take care of our kids. And it’s nice to have somebody getting your back. And that’s why the Affordable Care Act made it illegal for bad actors in the insurance industry to discriminate against kids like Avey. And today, Avey is doing just great. She was here just a second ago, where is she? There’s Avey — hey, sweetie! So Alycia wrote in — she said, “The health care law is about people like me. It’s AlyciaCare.

Text of the President’s remarks here
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2013/05/10/remarks-president-affordable-care-act

***************************************

Here are some excerpts from the White House link:

Women & Families

Ending Insurance Company Abuses: Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, insurers can no longer put a lifetime cap on how much care they will pay for if you get sick or cancel your coverage when you make a mistake on your paperwork. Starting in 2014, health insurers will be prohibited from charging you more because you are a woman.

Young Adults

Coverage for Pre-existing Conditions: If you have been uninsured for six months and can’t buy private insurance because of a pre-existing condition, you can join the Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan. And under the new law, no plan can deny coverage to people under age 19 because of a pre-existing condition. Starting in 2014, health insurers will be prohibited from discriminating against anyone due to pre-existing conditions.

Seniors

Cheaper Prescription Drugs: If you’re in the donut hole, you will receive a 50 percent discount when buying brand-name prescription drugs covered by Medicare Part D. The discount is applied automatically when you fill your prescription—you don’t have to do anything to get it. These changes are already saving seniors billions of dollars. And by 2020, the donut hole will be closed.

the BOG, she! This is so Important and not really fully appreciated until it happens to us.

We're moving things forward.

In his speech posted at the White House link~

And let me just start off with a public service announcement to dads, partners, kids of America -- (laughter) -- Sunday is Mother’s Day. (Laughter.) You should not forget. (Laughter.) You can’t go wrong with flowers, a homemade card, giving some mom -- giving mom some relief, some quiet time. That is appreciated. (Laughter.)

So it’s a day when we put moms first. And I still remember one time I said to Michelle -- this is back when we had just gotten married and I think Malia had just been born, and we were fussing around Mother’s Day, and I said, but you know, how come we do so much stuff on Mother’s Day? She says, because every other day is Man’s Day. (Laughter.) So this is like one day. And there was, as usual, profound insight in Michelle’s remarks because moms so often put themselves last; so often they put everything else before themselves.

As far as im concerned, simply by getting the ACA passed the man earned my undying support. He did what no one else was able to do. He FINALLY got healthcare reform passed.

That combined with him ending the war in Iraq, supporting gay marriage, saving the economy, refunding stem cell research, allowing women in combat, etc., etc., etc. probably makes him the best president since FDR if not ever!!!

And he still has another 3 1/2 years to go!!!

I tell you,

BEST
PRESIDENT
EVER!

Didn't you hear? Obama's not a real progressive. None of that stuff matters because he's a center-right, Moderate Republican in disguise. He doesn't care about you or me.

Joking aside, that alone is a pretty impressive list in spite of the GOP's constant efforts to block him. It makes me sick to my stomach every time I imagine where we'd be had more Dems voted in 2010 and his Jobs Act actually passed in 2011. Now we're stuck with an MLBing (Major League Bullshitting) Congress that doesn't want to do anything except go on Benghazi witch hunts and re-fight lost battles concerning Affordable Health Care (they've tried at least 37 times to repeal it). All of this is not only a waste of time, but also taxpayer money.

That is why i feel we need to be united.

I have seen a few anti-Obama threads in GD, and I decided im going to focus on telling everyone here why I think Obama is the best President ever and how we need to unite together against the republicans. Because I really do believe in Obama and the democratic party!

I feel if we unite behind Obama we can bring about the next "age of democrats" and finally take our country back from these right wing extremists!
