Many are painting it in a nasty way, but people need to think. Loyalty is something we are missing, that is loyalty to each other. We have become so me, me, me that we forgot that this is a country of WE. What is good for our neighbor is good for us. That is the backbone of Unions. It is the fabric of Communities. It is an idea that has been disappearing.

The loyalty to the idea that was forged in three very important documents has been disappearing through time. It was not an idea of loyalty to government or a monarch, but to each other. Over the roughly 237 years, the idea of this loyalty has been under attack by a small number that would like to be the ruling class. In the last 15 years, the idea has been put to the test and is been made black and blue in the fight.

This proclamation made by President Obama is a good thing. We have a Labor Day already, but a day to remember that without loyalty to each other, we have no Unions, we have no workers right, is something we need. We need to remember the idea of this country is one of a loyalty to one another and that loyalty can and will bring the Unions back, force the top 1% to pay their fair share, and get us back on top.

So, Thank You Mr. President for helping us to remember this and place a day to help us always to remember!

but I find it disgusting how people like you just sit around and basically pretend that he can get anything done without Congress's help, as if we elected some king. Republicans have blocked him on virtually EVERYTHING, whether it's basic gun control legislation, the public option, the Jobs Bill, or higher tax revenue from top income earners. No president has ever experienced this type of obstruction from the opposing party, not even LBJ (who had Democratic majorities and liberal Republicans working with him). No president before him had the opposing party conspiring on the night of his inauguration to block whatever he wants.

Also it should be noted that despite all the criticism from so-called "progressives", he has accomplished a lot despite GOP obstruction and is a major improvement from his predecessor. Unemployment and the deficit have both lowered under his watch, he has drawn down both wars and kept us safe from any major attacks, he ended DADT and was the 1st-ever president to endorse marriage equality (which in itself has helped many gays out of the closet and spark the debate), he bailed out the auto industry, he signed the Fair Pay Act, he extended tax cuts for low-income Americans, and he delivered on his promise to hunt down and kill OBL. Meanwhile, our friends on the other side of the aisle have been busy not only blocking him, but making it more difficult for minorities and the poor to vote, intruding in the private lives of women and gays, denying people health care, cutting public education, and war-mongering once again with Syria.

To claim that Obama is not "doing something to show loyalty" and is just offering "cheap words" shows ignorance on your part about how government really works and what has happened in Washington since 2009.

But don't worry. The "Obama adoration page" comeback was spectacular and covered your cluelessness very nicely.

when it is really meaningless. The stupid thing has been with us since 1921. Typical of the hyperventilation that goes on here lately.
In my family it was always "Law Day" ( Dad was a lawyer)

That's where Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is in jail. Seems to me he became a citizen just so he'd have the rights of a citizen when he slaughtered Americans on their own soil. During services in a Mosque less than TWO months after Dzhokhar took the citizenship oath, he and Tamerlan interrupted the Imam when he said they should all celebrate Independence Day and Thanksgiving. Later on Tamerlan did the same thing about MLK.

Yeah. I really hope Dzhokhar got a huge reminder of Loyalty Day on May 1st. Flags everywhere! The National Anthem in all it's glory in stereo at dawn. Yes sir. Yankee Doodle Dandy piped in for fun.

I was at Ft. Devens for an MI class once. Nice place. Loved being able to go into Boston.
