Senate Republicans, backed by rural-state Democrats, blocked legislation to tighten restrictions on the sale of firearms. Attempts to ban assault-style rifles and high capacity magazines also faced certain defeat in a series of showdown votes four months after the mass shooting in Newtown, Conn. The background check measure commanded a majority but fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance.

President Obama spoke candidly about his frustration with the defeat of the Manchin-Toomey Amendment. Obama said that the gun lobby and its allies "willfully lied about the bill." Obama was introduced by Mark Barden, the father of Sandy Hook victim Daniel Barden.

This. Is. Not. Over.

3. Such outrage over losing a bill. What about the seniors who will die because of chained CPI?

He needs to get his outrage on about which group he doesn't want to lose to.

Sorry. I don't care what the issue. Obama has shown himself to be a phony and a tool, and he has lost his cred with me altogether.

This is about gun legislation only.. too bad you can't get that through your head.

There's tons of threads for you to whine about how you feel. This isn't one of them.

Basically, what I got from what you're saying is that gun laws are less important to you than some manufactured outrage over just a proposed cut to SS. People always conveniently ignore the fact that this was not his ideal budget, and that for someone who is a "phony" and eager to cut the Big Three, he has had over 4 years to do so and still has yet to do it. People forget the type of domestic terrorists that he is dealing with in Congress, and act like he is some dictator or king who can do whatever the fuck he wants. You call the man a phony over this one issue, and yet purists like you are never anywhere to be seen when he does actually do something the Left supports like the Fair Pay Act and the Auto Bailout, and being the 1st president to endorse gay marriage. And while he was just proposing CPI, Republicans actually want to get rid of SS altogether, but nobody ever wants to talk about that.
So-called "progressives" like you never want to give Obama credit for anything. Ever.

The Parents of Sandy Hook Victims and Survivors of Gun Violence wanted this.. and the US Senate couldn't even get a weak law passed.

Of course, he's pissed.. what sane person wouldn't be?
