Some things have not changed,

nor will they -- ever. Here's a link to a post on KOS from a year and a half ago addressing stuff similar to what we've been seeing here since the day after the election (both of them, actually!) I honestly don't get it. Why do EVEN Dems seem to absolutely despise this man?

Partial victory is still victory, folks. It’s still progress, and if you’re a “progressive”, that’s what you’re supposed to be about, not bitching about everything that isn’t as perfect as the imaginary world in your mind.

Barack Obama is a man of character, and thought, and tremendous political skill, and values genuinely committed to the interests of the ordinary people of this country, and its future. We are unbelievably lucky to have him, because a leader like him hasn’t been seen in this country for a generation.

Give him a goddamned break, and get his back. He deserves no less.

more (it's short):

Thank you for this!

Please recognize that most of us here at DU that support Obama become mentally hoarse from defending him here against a rabid but very vocal minority. After a while, we start to let the obvious bullshit slide and speak up less frequently.

The vast majority of progressives understand what "progressive" means and also understand that the race is run one step at a time.

Again, thank you!!

I post on other discussion boards, and the reactions here from the Obama detractors are identical to the Tea Party freakazoids. It's surreal.

is, from kos. It's certainly not magically instantaneous in Congress.

There's plenty of room for disagreement of policies but the hyperbolically, venom laced disrespect only reflects on those who practice it.

Happy New Year, Ineeda

And Happy New Year to you, too, and all the good souls of DU. I hope 2013 sees no sad and tragic losses, and a U.S. citizenry and Congress that comes to its senses.

Everyone has the right to freedom of speech. To voice their opinions.

However the inflamed rants on what if...if he does this...he has betrayed the voters...etc,etc,etc. All this before any deal was made. The rants here made it sound like it was a done deal! Done and in writing! I have to ask all of the ranters if they were in on the negotiations. I for one was not there as a first hand wittiness.

So what I am asking is that you hold off on your done deal criticisms until they are a done deal. Write the White House, you Senate and Congress person.Express your opinions to them. If you are then not satisfied when the deal is a fact, you are welcome to your right...to your freedom to criticize. Please let us stop the Conspiracy Theories!

Undermining this President with nitpicking and fault-finding and paranoid conspiracy theories has zero effect but to hamstring the only damned horse we've got to ride. He's doing the hardest job in the world at the absolute hardest time to do it, with a phalanx of certifiably insane opponents ready to render our money worthless and our families homeless for the sake of advancing an economic theory that has been proven false.
