The figures that Obama is citing in the video come from that link's button called Trade-offs. Think of the creative capacity of mankind that is being held back with war. I believe Obama has. This is why he got the Nobel Peace Prize. I feel it dishonest to call him a warmonger and someone who wants to kill people all over the world for money and power.
He is leader of the most militarized nation in history, with a global impact.
The USA is not Switzerland. It is what it is but the sequestration threat is a back door to changing America from a constant wartime basis to something else. I am not happy about the wars that we have been in. But it's not going to be easy to turn this around.
Last month, 60 MILLION Americans voted for a man who promised to take us to war with Iran, which everyone has said would lead to a conflict that would rival WW2 or worse. So this is not as easy as waving a wand and making it all go away. It's no easy thing to put this in reverse, but we will.
In 2007 I was for other candidates better known for their anti-war stances, but turned off by Hillary in the primary debates. But I was impressed by a new man on the stage who was thoughtful and respectful to everyone, despite their opinions. His name was Barack Obama.
I sought to learn all I could about him. As I watched Obama through the campaign, all through videos, I realized he was speaking to what I believed. I was eager to vote for him in 2008. I don't believe he's changed, despite the way he's been portrayed.
When I went to check him out, despite his estimate on getting out of Iraq, I found this link. I believe that Obama has not forgotten, nor been caught up in ego games as other candidates were. I saw a statesman, a quiet Lincolnesque leader.
Very conscious of those around him, but willing to work with them out of a belief in equality. Like
...Namaste represents the belief... there is a Divine spark within each of us... an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another..
If we believed this, how much of the hatred and conflict could be eliminated.
That is equality. It is the soul that we all share.
Some see lack of compromise as strength or manliness, but that view of being strong is from movies or Reagan and Bush. Those were faux men, IMHO. A real man is humble, open and able to handle a lot. of opinions.
