Barack Obama
Related: About this forumSo glad this is here
Tonight I posted a rather lengthy rant on my support for President Obama and my party. Right away the anti President Obama people swarmed my thread like bee's to honey and just went off on me.
For the first time in years, I ended up putting "so called Democrats" on my ignore list who told me to shut up that my views on President Obama and the support and love I have for my party were not warranted.
I almost left Democratic Underground for good tonight until I was reminded that there were more people like me here. I also got introduced to this group and I'm glad I found this group. Thank you to the hosts for creating this place where I can escape the anti Obama naysayers.

(68,644 posts)For all the crap we have to put up with in GD, the BOG is a safer haven than it was a year ago at DU2.
We weren't allowed to say anything that complained of unfair treatment on the boards, haters would alert and posts and replies would be locked or removed and it just ended up dying.
So, one of the better things about DU3 is the return to fairness for us supporters, our group is safe.
Welcome!

(53,661 posts)I tried to reply to one of those naysayers when your "I've had it with this place" thread was locked. Sheesh. I was so incensed to read #66 (Egalitarian Thug), who repeated the right wing argument that Obama had "Democratic majorities in both the House and the Senate" ... "only to continue and expand the policies of his predecessor." Both statements are horrible lies, yet another DUer replied to him, approvingly referring to Thug's use of "facts."
I wanted to tell both of them that Obama only had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate for 24 working days. http://factleft.com/2012/01/31/the-myth-of-democratic-super-majority/
And yet, despite that, he managed to accomplish an amazing number of things. Of course he could not get everything done that we wanted, but he did the most important things: he got us out of Iraq, he saved the U.S. auto industry, and (most important to me personally), he passed healthcare reform that will give my brother health insurance coverage for the first time in his adult life.
I imagine they already know that, though, and they just are here to stir the shit. Glad folks like you (and this Barack Obama Group) are here to counterbalance them, or else I would be gone from DU, as would a lot of others.

Some good, knowledgeable DUers here who know better but it's hard to get through to t the willfully ingnorant. They want him and the goverrnment to fail... for their revolution... or whatever it is they are selling here.

(24,544 posts)The latest idiocy is that the president "self-identified" as a Moderate Republican because of his statements on how "mainstream" his policies/politics are and that most people are aware that he's not interested in implementing socialism in the country.
It's as plain as day what he's saying. But when you are desperate to make it appear that your irrational feelings have some basis, I guess anything goes.
Here's a link to what Obama was saying: http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/domestic-taxes/272957-obama-says-his-economic-policies-so-mainstream-hed-be-seen-as-moderate-republican-in-1980s and it's important to note this bit:
How anyone can take "I am a moderate Republican" from that is proof positive of how utterly lacking in anything resembling honesty and coherence some of his "leftist" detractors are.

(1,678 posts)more than one Republican and "so called Democrat" make those claims and yet when I challenge them, I get yelled it. It gets to the point where you either have to sit there and take the bull crap they are peddling or put them on ignore so you can enjoy the site without having to see their constant attacks.
Some people here I do question if they are truly democrats. Because all they are interested in doing is attacking PBO. There always looking for something negative. Last night proved it to me when my thread got swarmed by anti Obama people. Heck in a group where we are free to voice our support and love for the President they are still coming on here and attacking the President.
I was told that "I was exposed" last night. It seems to me that the people who blasted me were the ones who were exposed. Exposed for not being democrats.

(24,544 posts)As I said to you in my post in your thread (lucky I was able to get in before it was locked) the totality of these people's power and purpose is DU:GD. They ain't got nothing. And they know it too.
Heck in a group where we are free to voice our support and love for the President they are still coming on here and attacking the President.
The BOG is honey to the swarming flies. Read Meta sometimes. There are folks here that are absolutely consumed with this group, the fact that we exist, the fact that we continue to support President Obama is seemingly infuriating to some of these people. I'd suggest that these folks get a life, some friends or a hobby but it's apparent that some of them are way too far gone for any of these things to help.

(1,678 posts)I can't believe I never knew about Meta. I spent a good hour reading it earlier today and was fascinated by what was going on.

(53,661 posts)Go through the threads here and enjoy yourself. BOG people posted their stories on canvasssing for his re-election.
And check my journal, a few pages past the holiday fun you'll find great threads, especially from John Lucas about his confidence when despair was being preached in GD daily was making Democrats sick at heart. He made believers out of many. I bookmarked and re-read it daily. Take a look and enjoy it:

(1,678 posts)I can no longer take people like him seriously. I'm not interested in the anti-Obama people any more. It's not worth me getting stress and gray hair. The fact that he had the nerve to follow me here is proof that he's looking for a fight. Thanks everyone. I hate to go to the extreme but if I'm going to enjoy this place, some people are going on ignore

(3,502 posts)I tried to respond, too, but it was locked by the time I did. I didn't really agree that it belonged in Meta. Close call, maybe, but it was about politics as well as DU. Anyway, nice post and the more people who migrate here, the better, right?
