Barack Obama
Related: About this forumI am going to miss my President.

I do not want him to leave. A kind, gentle and centered man. Yet he has an inner strength and has shown determination to try to set a course for America. He has done this with all the vitriol and yes, racist hate tossed his way. They tried to make him a one term President. He has been the most disrespected President in our history. That makes me sad America, you seem to have no idea who this man is, or what he is about. They never liked a black man in the White House.
Did anyone really think the change we want could happen overnight? Look at the History of Women, AA, Native Americans and LGBT. Yes we have seen steps, yet we are still all fighting every damn step of the way, crawling, scratching, crying and fighting for OUR rights. For some of us, it has been more than 100 years.
He has a wonderful sense of humor and pokes fun at himself. That is him, that is how he shrugs the hate off. To me, he is the best President ever. I will feel a complete sense of loss when he leaves office.
He has changed lives, he has changed Black Lives.

(26,838 posts)up in what was done to him and therefore not done by him. They fought him tooth and nail, but still he has accomplished so much..and he isn't finished. He brought grace and dignity back to the WH, he has been fair and reasoned in his dealings with both friends and enemies, he brought us back from the brink of economic disaster, and tried his best to unwind the oil wars of bush/cheney. Few would have done so much even without the damned elephant that he had to carry.
We are fortunate indeed to have had PBO for our President. I will miss him greatly.
Thanks for the thread, sheshe.

(308,412 posts)doing something so riveting when they leave our White House that there will still be a need for The Obama Diary, which I have been reading daily since 2009!
That's when Chips started it because there were those on DU that were so jealous of the President.. they couldn't stand that she posted a photo-journal of his Admin.
It was an Awesome Silver Lining!

February 25th, 2009~ President Obama and his family choose a dog.
(CNN) One of the most intense guessing games of President Obamas new administration is finally over: the choice of first dog.
First Lady Michelle Obama told People magazine that her family has decided to adopt a Portuguese water dog, pointing to the breeds medium-sized and good-natured reputation. The breed is also hypoallergenic a must, given daughter Malias allergy to dogs.
