Jump on a call with the President:
The Iran deal is an historic one. After about two years of tough and intensive negotiations, the U.S. and our international partners reached a deal that will verifiably prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
We refused to take a bad deal, instead taking the time to press for a deal that met every one of our bottom lines. And thats exactly what we got.
But, as we've seen time and again, that won't stop politicians and pundits from spreading misinformation and falsehoods about the Iran deal.
That's why President Obama is hopping on the phone tonight to explain the deal and its importance to the country and the international community. And he wants you to join the call.
So tonight, at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, call 1-866-254-5934 and enter the passcode 365802.
You'll find the President on the other end, explaining exactly what you need to know about the Iran deal and what it means for the security of our country and that of our allies.
There's limited space for this opportunity, so set a reminder for 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time and jump on a call to learn everything you need to know about the Iran deal, straight from President Obama.
Until then, dig a little deeper into the details of this historic deal here: WhiteHouse.gov/Iran-Deal
Thank you,
The White House Team

(9,688 posts)I listened to the call, thought he laid out the arguments very well, and his message - to all of US, to get on this- was really, really important.
. . particularly the part where he said what irritated him about the Iraq protests was that "people got loud and got active" but only when it was too late.
The time for reaching your congresscritters is NOW.

(16,104 posts)remind them we don't want government shutdowns, we don't want defense budgets going up (the new 'pork') while social programs and safety nets go down, we don't want another credit downgrade while they weasel around the debt limit, we want jobs programs like highway bill and infrastructure programs including a freaking increase in gas tax after a couple decades...
It's got to be a real hot August recess -- I know the teabaggers will be yelling, we got to be louder!
An activist friend of mine told me that Dem congressional offices begged her group to call and write their offices. "All we ever hear from", a Dem congressional staff member said, "are conservatives". Here was an aide for a solid-liberal congressperson, who was a reliable Democrat. In his case, the problem wasn't persuading the congressman to agree with Dem initiatives. The problem was being able to show that his constituents agree with his POV.
And, also, remember to THANK congressional representatives when they do vote for good legislation, stand up against conservatives, and do good things all around.
To take one example, John Lewis can be counted on to vote with the Dem caucus in the House; so there are very few instances where he might need to be persuaded to vote a way I might like. But boy does he deserve our thanks
