For the BOG.
Dear President Obama
As a gay man, thanks to your and Vice President Joe Biden's leadership I now have the same rights as a straight couple.
I wish to thank you both for all the hard work you have done for getting me rights that straight people enjoy all the time.
However, the fight is not over, we still need to make sure that discrimination against my LGBT brothers and sisters can be stopped.
We need to start passing laws to protect us from those who hate us.
While we are at it, could we start taxing the churches who use their money to shill for politicians who hurt us in the news?
I realized its a heavy lift but if there is one thing you have taught me is that fighting for something, believing in it will make it worth your wile to keep going.
So that's what I done, I continue to fight in my own limited way to achieve the impossible. Thank you both for your hard work. This was indeed the hope and change I have voted twice for

(87,475 posts)This is our safe haven. I ask you not to disrespect the members here. Coolest Ranger is a respected member of our group. Over sensitive? I think not, he is thanking this President. Yet you are disrupting this thread and our group.
A group, not a forum. Take your comments out of here. Go post them in GD. I am sure they will be met with praise there. If you find you cannot abide by our rules you will be blocked from posting here. TIA.
I don't care how long it took him to evolve, because evolve he did.
Those who have a generally negative view of President Obama and his administration, support his defeat in the 2012 presidential election (in primaries or the general election), or who are generally supportive of those who do, are not welcome in the Barack Obama Group.

(87,475 posts)You kindly thanked two men, our President and our VP for helping LGBT achieve marriage equality. There are other protections under the law now. This President evolved over time, I don't care how long it took him, he evolved.
You are right, the work is far from over. There will still be battles ahead.
Hope and Change~

(9,669 posts)I truly believe it is up to the community to reach out and communicate grievances and desires. We still have a mighty hangover from the Civil War. Coping with that mess and trying to put racism behind us is a heavy load. If one is black and gay, well then, God bless you.
We have deep concerns that need tending. I hope the LGBT community will help with women's rights which are constantly under attack as well as gun laws, immigration problems, and income inequality. These issues are at a critical stage and we need all hands on deck.
Thanks for the thank you's though.
