No, really. One of my closest friends is a woman with a transgender son, and I just wanted to celebrate with her of all people. Since she was not home I kind of assumed she might have missed that wonderful call the President made to Obergefell, and suddenly I was in tears.
So happy

(4,178 posts)I have a friend who has a gay son. She is totally accepting, but has never been able to openly talk about him without crying.
I just wanted to hug her today.

I've only met her son a couple of times, but from the day he decided he wasn't a lesbian but a man, she has referred to him as "my son." Such grace, such grace. All she has ever wanted is for him to be at peace in himself.
He's been living with MS for a very long time now, and is in assisted living in another state. This new ruling unfortunately will not change that, but what a difference it will make for so many other people's lives.
I'll be seeing her tomorrow with some other friends as we take a day-trip to Ojai for the Lavender Festival, and we will celebrate the victories of this week together.
