President Obama totally under attack

on DU and it's shameful!

It's on the Bernie March to Washington thread.

Sounds like it's direct from the sewers of freakrepublic and damn redstate!

Cha and others have brought it up too. How they can expect to form a winning coalition without the Obama coalition, I do not know. I'm leaning toward Bernie at this time. If I vote for him it won't be because of their posts trashing the President. I kind of let a lot of that stuff slide, because a lot of people get really up in arms about stuff every day here. I guess a lot of people just like to vent. Myself, I can't imagine even feeling, let alone typing, some of the vitriol that comes from their fingers. Practically every single day since he has been President, lol.

No democratic candidate can win without the Obama coalition.

The republicans are praying that Bernie splits the party. It will hand the presidency to them on a sliver platter!

I can't find the thread you mention, but I realize some people, not just Sander supporters, are calling the president rude names because he supports TPP and fast track authority. It's the nature of the "rooms" here that you can say anything nasty about anyone other than the candidate for whom the room is established, and anyone who criticizes you for going over the top is called out for being disloyal, a troll, etc. I don't really agree with this philosophy, but that seems to be the way it is. You have to realize there will be flamers in any group of people, even those who support a pretty mild-mannered candidate. We do need to point out that it's not good to criticize Democrats in certain ways, that we need to keep it civil, etc. but the rooms seem to be insulated against such reminders.

Oh please give me a break. Go read GD some more. Do not talk to me about nasty here!

You seriously said this?

Seriously? GD has become a hate fest for Dems. Forget the GOP, lets trash DEMOCRATS!!!!!!!! Yeah DU!

Read GD. GD is civil and the groups are not? OMFG!

Skinner called it here. FYI. He owns this site.

FYI. Read This Before You Post Again.

The mission of the Barack Obama Group is to discuss information and news about the life, career, accomplishments, and presidency of Barack Obama; to provide a haven for those members of Democratic Underground who support the president and his policies; to discuss President Obama's policy positions, speeches, interviews, and other public appearances; to discuss President Obama's political campaigns; and to discuss the causes which President Obama has championed, including health care reform and ending the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Those who have a generally negative view of President Obama and his administration, support his defeat in the 2012 presidential election (in primaries or the general election), or who are generally supportive of those who do, are not welcome in the Barack Obama Group.

I have been threatened with blocks from at least two other groups, so this is the third such threat. This is interesting because I voted for Obama both times, sent him money, handed out some bumper stickers, etc. So my support is pretty strong, and I would never flame him or call him names. I believe he's a great president. But I believe it's OK to say he makes mistakes, rather than deny he is fallible. If you read the mission statement of your group, you will see it says "discuss" rather than "unconditionally praise." And it says the group is a safe haven for those who support the president and his policies. It does not say anyone who provides constructive criticism is a traitor. It does not say anyone who fails to gush praise all over the president should be blocked. It does not say you get to jump all over me for pointing out why some criticism may be understandable. Obviously, you feel being a host means everybody has to agree with you and refrain from contradicting what you say. That seems pretty normal for the groups here, and it reflects the view that only those who have been purified at the altar of suspended incredulity can participate in the group. If that's what you want, OK, but I would have thought you wanted a forum that could accept criticism and discuss it intelligently, without the flaming and name calling found in GD. Some of the president's best and most loyal supporters criticize him occasionally. Your mission statement reflects this, but your block threats do not.

You're showing no respect for the Barack Obama Group. We know what the mission statement says.. we've been here for years. So, sorry, again.. you don't get to come in and explain it to us and how you want it to go.

To return the respect to the US we knew in the past. He worked to get a healthcare bill passed and then you hear the bitching it should have been universal. Yes universal would have been better but what we got was much better than when we didn't have the ACA. I was fortunate to have health insurance throughout my life but the ACA removed the cap on my medical. It also removed pre-existing conditions. Both of these has helped me a lot, I am on the winning side with ACA.

They found a Savior in Obama. Then left him on his own.

He never said I am the one you are waiting for. He said.

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

They sit on their fucking asses and complain.

Sadly this is no longer Democratic Underground.

Skinner says it best.

It was intended to imply an aggressive anti-Republican orientation.

We were the "Underground" fighting against the Republicans, who were in power at the time.

Ironically, it seems that many people took the name to mean "Underground fighting against Democrats." I was so naive. Back when I started this site I had no clue so many Democrats hated Democrats.

is straying away from what I first thought it was in 2012. It's turning into the same hate-fest as most other political forums. I hate to admit it, but it almost feels like someone is giving people orders to come here and start shit. People claim to support certain political figures, then use them against either Obama, Hillary, or the party in general. It looks weird when:

a. You're attacking the same party more than the other party.
b. You have more negative posts about a candidate of the same party than positive ones for your supposed candidate, and...
c. You click on positive posts of a candidate or political figure of the same party just to write something snarky and negative.

I'll be honest--I wouldn't put up with this at all if I had a similar site. If it's obvious that people have nothing positive to say, and just want to start trouble, out they go.
[IMG][/IMG]

I don't think the TOS is as strictly enforced as it should be. It clearly says to "don't be a wingnut", but people continue to act nutty and post lies about 2 of the party's most popular figures, despite their accomplishments and popularity even among self-proclaimed liberals.

And at this point I hope it's Hillary Clinton. Sen Sanders supporters on DU have turned me off him completely.

Mr Sanders has some good ideas but his followers are rude and care zero about the democratic party which is what the democratic underground is all about.

I couldn't even think about supporting any candidate with groups of followers viciously slamming all other democrats in the race and our President as well.

Disagree with them? Fine.

Post conspiracy theories straight from fux news/freakrepublic/redstate? You've gone way, way, way to far when that crap happens.

And that happens 24/7 in GD lately.
