http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/get-ready-for-the-obama-boomlet/ar-BBgPPCPSecond, and more importantly, the economy is improving. The third quarter saw the fastest job growth in three years, and the unemployment rate is now 5.8 percent, down from 10 percent in 2009. Gas prices are also plunging. And theres evidence Americans are beginning to notice. As Time recently noted, consumer confidence has just hit its highest mark in eight years. Even if the improving economy doesnt boost Obamas approval rating, its likely to improve the way hes seen by the Beltway press. And given the role a strong economy played in buoying Bill Clintons approval ratings in the late 1990s, despite the Monica Lewinsky scandal, its quite possible that Obamas will rise too, which will further fuel the journalistic perception that Obama is back.
Finally, the context in which journalists judge Obama is about to change. This years dominant storyline was about Obama and the midterm elections. Most key Senate races took place in red and purple states where Democratic candidates distanced themselves from Obama, thus magnifying the medias perception that he was a political pariah.
Next year, however, the story wont be 2014 but 2016. And the Democratic story, in all likelihood, will be Hillary Clintons march toward her partys nomination. While Obama was certainly unpopular this fall in states like Kentucky, he remains quite popular among the liberal activists who play an outsized role in Democratic primaries. In fact, Obama retains a connection to many them that Hillary Clinton has never enjoyed.

(305,403 posts)Why let a perfectly good OP get infiltrated with those telling us why this isn't so?
the President is doing great things.. all on his own. Dems sat home in 2010 and he dealt with that.. the gop shutdown the gov in 2013 and the Dems still sat home in 2014..and then whine that they had no reason to vote. Couldn't make themselves get excited about our Planet Earth and everything else the Dems hold Dear.

(15,703 posts)The delays on Saturday had me worried but thank dog it all worked out:
Obamas approval ratings are up 15 points among Hispanics but have not dropped among Anglo whites.
If we'd lost that immigration EO we'd be in bad shape for 2016. But hey it's all about Jamie Dimon's cufflinks.

(82,383 posts)is going to require giving Republicans some of what they want. Screw the people who complain about that over the next two years. Enough. They've had three Congressional elections to get off their asses but all they do is threaten to stay home or to keep other people home (due to their lack of "inspiration" which they claim is all that gets out the vote).
President Obama will make them give him something he wants too. He always does, though they hold the upper hand, since they don't give a shit about the people or the economy.
And they'll leave pretty much every office unfilled unless they get someone they want, which will of course be "corporatists." And the Treasury Department having people with actual banking experience. Oh the horrors! :sacasm:
