The Charcoal Pit is a local chain of about 3 restaurants. We heard he was going to lunch on Concord Pike, and guessed that would be the place, as the rest are chains like Olive Garden, and he never goes to places like that.
He was here to talk about infrastructure. Recently, I-495, a beltway around Wilmington, was closed, because of defects in a bridge on it. It has caused great traffic problems on I-95 though the city.

(87,490 posts)I always seem to be working the days he comes here. There was only one time that I was off and the security would have been hard to get through. He was attending the memorial mass here after the marathon. Wasn't a great time to go.
Next time I am going to make a point of getting there.
Glad he was there to talk about our out of date infrastructure.
@dougmillsnyt: A young girl greets President Obama as he arrives at the New Castle Air National Guard Base, in New Castle, Delaware.

(12,201 posts)Hi neighbor!
I think he and the secret service should have had a "Kitchen Sink" and FB'd the photo!
For those who don't know, it's 12 scoops of ice cream with fruit and other toppings.
Adding: I don't think there are 3 anymore, just the original on 202. The ones in Newark and New Castle have shut down. Nothing compared to the original one on 202. Last time we were in the Pike Creek location, it was filthy and looked kinda like a front for something. It may be closed by now as well.

(82,383 posts)There is one on Kirkwood Highway, but it is a "sports bar" also, not really in the spirit of the original!
I recall one on Maryland Avenue, also gone now! My mother's hang-out as a teenager!
